'Age of Conan' to Take 250 Hours to Max Level?
Posted By: Brian Leahy - Tuesday, May 13, 2008 1:15 PM

The upcoming brutal MMO Age of Conan - Hyborian Adventures is looking pretty sweet, but how much content is actually there?

According to the developers, hitting the maximum level of 80 will take about 250 hours of played time. They claim that from levels 1 to 60, each level will take about 2-3 hours.

The final levels, however, will take a lot longer in the push from 60 to 80.

The big question is if there will be enough end-game content to fill that time. We don't want mindless grinding.

Videogamer: Age of Conan will take "250" hours to get to level 80

wow that sux. I don't wanna spend 2 hours at lvl one. how boring. lvling time should scale with lvl and mob/quest difficulty. People don't wanna have to play for 2 hours without being able to do anything before they lvl even once.

I used to love MMO's in High school and College. I just do not have an extra 250 hours to spend getting a top level character anymore. And that is only 1 top level character.

AOC will be good for 30 days and everyone will be going back to WOW.. You cant beat the king of MMO's. King Conan will NOT unseat King WOW!

Or you could play diablo 2 where getting to level 70 takes a few hours (if you know where to go, and who to go with). then from levels 70-80 its a few levels an hour, then 80-90 about 2 levels an hour and then 90-99 takes about 5-8 hours a level.

In all reality I HIGHLY doubt it is going to take 2-3 hours per lvl between 1 and 20. That is stupid and NO MMO has ever taken more than even 3 minutes to hit lvl 2.

As for 250 hours, in actuality that isnt really THAT much time. In number it might seem a little daunting but any real MMORPGer is going to play like 4 hours a day at minimum. What is that, like 4 months tops even with days off in there.

It's true that the amount of hours a day an MMORPGer sits down to actually play has decreased (the days of sitting around 3 hours JUST FOR A PARTY INVITE in FFXI just cant happen now-a-days for the majority of people) but 250 hours is far from what I would call a grindfest. Maybe its me seeing as I came from maxing chars in FFXI and Lineage 2 (quite possibly the biggest grindfest of them all) but even someone that now has a girlfriend that eats up most of my freetime and a fulltime job I still find it quite doable. Just my thoughts.

If I wanted to grind, I'd play some badly translated asian MMO.

I think this whole game is horrible.

It just needs to die, which it will do, thanks.

Looks kind of cool, but graphics intensive. I'm curious how well it will run, since you can basically play WoW with a 32mb graphics card and a gig of RAM (it's painful, but playable).

Meh, that's about 10 days /played and not too far over the estimated average that WoW will see once the level cap is raised. As long as the 60-80 leg of the grind has enough "new" content and quest types I don't see a problem. If it's the same quest types you've done from 1-60, I could see people getting really frustrated.

I still don't plan on buying it though.

WTF 4 MONTHS are you crapping me, that is not that much time from 0 to 60...stfu!!!!!!!
Grind grind grind ether its reputation, lvls, or honor. There is no escape from the random grind when it comes to video games so get over yourselfs but 250 hours or as knuckle-ass said duuu 4 months is still too much this games sounds like a WOW wannabe. Even the idea that Conan (Mr. solo himself) is an MMO is retarded. Here is a good idea for an MMO Qubert sure why not it does not have to do anything with the game just take the name.
So when it comes to MMO's get your chips, set the lights on low..play the Barry Manilow CD becouse its the only action you will get.
