PS Home Too Ambitious?

Sony's Final Boss of Computing Entertainment Europe, David Reeves, is saying that the non-gaming apps being set-up for Home have delayed its launch and that it was all too ambitious. They were looking for marquee sponsorship from products like Nike and Adidas, but have changed their minds finding that those companies were interested in fashion first, gaming second.

"It is definitely coming out in autumn," said Reeves. "Whether that's October or November, I don't precisely know, but it is an open beta."

Just say Novober. We already know you're pulling dates out of thin air.

I am very interested in seeing what the outcome will be and the experience of using it first hand and i doubt it very seriously if it is going to SUCK because Sony is well known for taking it's time to make sure it is done and presented right while the PIMP and THIEF Microsoft is too hasty for all of the wrong reasons (for GREED and to be on top of the World) specifically when they unfortunately and definitely rushed the so-called XBOX 360 console hardware out of the door knowing DAMN WELL that the XBOX 360 was not (and still isn't) a real video game console that is reliable and going to last forever like it's supposed to,you feel me?

I have just realized this forums is filled with dumbasses who are insecure about their own console. We cant have a discussion about a piece of pie with out a dumbass bringing up 360 vs ps3. Hey read the whole article... G4 conveniently left out the whole part where he talks about Sony focusing on gaming and there customers. basically they were trying to fill the HOME world completely up with stuff before anyone arrived... well they found out they have to fill the world with people before others will buy into it. This is good news... unlike some 360 fans on here... saying this is embarrassing... it is not... they just over shot what they could do before launching...

and he doesn't have a PS3... his cousin or friend has one... he posted that awhile ago... when the MGSO beta launched... He's completely full of crap.. and should be ignored like eamadden.

Reeves also spoke of the diminishing importance of platform exclusives from third parties, as first-party games become more prominent. "We did Buzz, we're doing LittleBigPlanet, Killzone, and there are obviously others that we're developing. We're becoming less dependent on third parties."

But, he added, Sony will seize exclusivity opportunities for games that attract new customers.

"It's got to be something that catches our eye and we think will bring new consumers into the industry. We can't keep recycling consumers from one iteration of PlayStation or Wii to another. We've got to gather up new people as we go through the years."

I've adopted the stance of not minding when things get delayed, because typically it means a better overall product. And it's true that people saying that they don't care will still download Home once it comes out.

you shouldn't even care unless the constant delay of home affected how you play games then ya get mad, but we don't even know all of the features yet so we can't say anything!!!! last time i checked people can still play games on the PS3, even without Home.

G4 please stop putting up pissy fits of Microsoft. (i'm talking about MR:sony can't keep promises bull). thats all i'm seeing with the PS3 being put down whenever something like this comes up.

well put and i completely agree with u. G4 claims they are completely neutral on the console front and discourage flame wars. Yet the y post stories like the one u mentioned. Thats the true sign of a hypocrit.

On topic, where was every1 at when GTA4 got delayed. Sure people moaned and groaned but they didnt drop all hope. HOME is free and will be fuggin awesome. Myspace meets youtube, meets itunes, meets The Sims, meets photo gallery. HOME is a epic load to develop. I believe Sony is doing the right thing by delaying. I would rather have a fail proof system than a peice of crap rushed to the sales floor just to get customers to buy it then later die or just suck(i.e. rrod 360).

And if u rele need it now, then sign up for the damn beta, or ur just too lazy. Oh, and I love how xbots come out in droves with the slightest sign of weakness from Sony.

notice how they keep saying it will be out this fall when really that's only the beta. we probably won't see it in it's final fully operational stage until 09. That's pretty lame especially since they been putting it in commercials and on the side of the box since last year.
