'GTA' MMO?
Posted By: Ty Colfax - Friday, May 09, 2008 12:19 PM

Realtime Worlds, a development house that used to be under the Rockstar roof, is now hoping to partner with or sell it's APB (All Points Bulletin) work in order to give the world GTA Online, the rumored MMO that would further expand Rockstar's e-domination.

With the multiplayer going the way its going, we're expecting GTA to house its own MMO with its own technology as it seems so close already. But with a few MMOs in trouble, the fad may be slipping away and Rockstar is not one to hop onto sinking ships.

joystiq.com: Rumor: Realtime Worlds hopes APB becomes GTA Online

For a little taste of that multiplayer action in GTA IV watch this:

I hope this is just a rumor. It would be a shame to see the next grand theft auto game go the way of FF11. GTA has made its mark on the gaming world with exceptional single player content. Hope it stays that way with multiplayer being a secondary focus.

I HOPE THEY MAKE A MMO OF GTA! I would so pay for that...but for it to work and last long, it should be free.... I dont think they can though? could they? MMO, MMO, MMO!!!!!

I wouldn't pay for it extra on 360 or PC...keep it free and awesome, like SA-MP.

This would fail... MMO's are a touchy thing... it has to be new and have a point.... going around shooting everyone... that's only fun in an MMO for a few day's...

ya, I have to agree.. what are they going to do.. make us grind up by killing people.. YA.. that will go over well. It is funny.. you can stab, shoot, burn, maim, and crush a "monster", but make it a realistic looking human and it is "corrupting the youth of the world".. dam double standards..

It would be like the multiplayer in GTA IV just housing more players.

Nah, things are fine the way they are.

This would be great for all of 5 mins. After you ran around killing people after a day or 2 the bordem would really kick in. Some how I doubt that would be a good choice for an MMO considering 95% of them flop and other MMOs have better ideas then GTA. Just because you have a successful game that sells does not mean it will be a good MMO. GTA really does not have a story and that is proven because everytime your a new person in GTA. Other then normal everyday life, this game would be very boring very fast. Bad idea, will be a flop unless some really great story idea is given to this game and that I do not see.

seriously please do NOT, i repeat DO NOT... DO THAT! mmo's are really hard to make truly good, and the first step you're taking with this game would be to take an original game with a fan base of OMGWTF ... and tear down the graphics and dumb it down for an mmo environment.

DO NOT WANT!

I think that the GTA universe would make for a great MMO, but I also thought that about Star Wars a few years ago and dammit if Galaxies and Sony prove me wrong.

This extreme disrespect towards women/crappy gunplay controls simulator definitely doesn't need an MMO at all because it is promoting too much what is wrong with America and the rest of this planet enough already as it is,you feel me?
