'Portal 2' Confirmed on X-Play!
Posted By: Jonathan Hunt - Thursday, February 21, 2008 5:35 PM

On tonight's episode of X-Play, lead designer for Portal, Kimberly Swift, confirmed that there will be a Portal 2. This is pretty much a given as Doug Lombardi, Valve's Director of Marketing, had previously stated that "more Portal is definitely on the way." However, until now we weren't sure if this would be in the form of a direct sequel or possibly downloadable content. Well, now we know. Check out the video for the confirmation.

This is a triumph. We're making a note here: Huge Success.

Well... this was obvious. GLaDOS clearly states she's still alive. ...Many times.

Now will portal 2 be packed in with Half Life 2 Episode 3 and Team Fortress 3? I liked portal as much as everyone else but I'm not paying $60 for it.

Portal was amazing, I just hope the next game will be as good.

The majority of posts so far are exactly why I have deep reservations about this game. Way way way too many dorks out there thinking it's funny or clever or cool to talk about the cake being a lie and how they want a companion cube of their own. The gameplay was what made Portal great. The song at the end was funny, but I don't know it by heart or care. The companion cube was actually pretty lame to me. I didn't care about a metal box, no matter how hard the game tried. And the whole cake thing was way better as a marketing device than it ended up being in the game.

Just give me a ton more puzzles (a least double the first game) and don't focus on dork-appeal and I'm all about this.

What ever happened to the good old days when you used to have to shell out 5 bucks for a gamepro mag just to see some pics of a game that might be coming out 2 years from now I have to say this industry is getting tired when you get these people on tv that reviews games that prob dont even play games and these shows, theres no fn surprise anymore they might as well just play the game for us have to say games are getting boring to me its sad and im tired of this format, just sayin though, user out

ddcityofsin what you say would be true if people had the attention spans and longer-term memories of the past. lol

@jargy1 true that. Anyone who finds Portal to be 'hilarious' is a supernerd. Don't get me wrong, I thought the game was really fun, but G4 blew loads over this game. On that note I am excited for the next Portal, but there is no way it can be more than $20 and I bet it will be included in the next episode 3 bundle

Epic Success!
:D
Totally thrilled to hear that!
Portal, and Bioshock were both refreshingly funky games that made 2007 an awesome year for PC gaming. I hope we get more of the same when their sequels come out.

@ddcityofsin: I'll bet you've got a totally different problem on your hands than the one you think you have.

Portal is one of the great games of all time. When I first saw this game I thought it looked dumb but all the hype made me intrested and once I played it I couldn't stop. I would love a longer and possibly harder portal.

portal is pretty interesting. i like games like that where you actually have to think and plan to progress.

The Sequel to portal is HL2 Episode 3.

I agree with DigiMuppet.

Excellent, I wonder if it will be included with episode 3 like something similar to the orange box

To answer an important question here, there can't be cake.
