The new iPod Touch from apple features a thin aluminum body, a 4-inch Retina Display screen, an iSight camera and iOS 6, taking your music listening experience to a whole new level. Matt Mira and Michael Kosta review the device for its final Gadget Pr0n rating.
What You Need To Know
The new iPod Touch looks just like an iPhone but lighter, coming in at 3.1 ounces.
This back aluminum case is red but the Touch is available in a number of different colors.
The case has a nice contoured edge to it.
The design features the familiar home button, as well as the long volume buttons.
Overall, the new iPod Touch is very sleek and thin.
This version includes an A5 processor, unlike the A6 in the new iPhone 5.
The iPod Touch was running apps just as fast as the iPhone 5 and must better tahn the previous generation iPod Touch.
The device boots up in about 6 seconds and the apps that require the Internet are going to be as fast as the connection will allow them.
The downside is that you are stuck with Apple Maps.
The screen is now larger at 4-inches, which allow more real estate for reading emails, web pages.
It's also a Retina Display so video and pictures look very good on here as well.
The front facing camera is a 1.2 megapixel camera that can shoot 720p video.
The rear camera is 5 megapixels with the same optics as the iPhone 4 but with a better processor.
The photos we took inside look very good and while it won't replace your point-and-shoot, it comes very close.
This can take HDR and panoramic photos with an LED flash.
The iPod software is somewhat different than before with a visual facelift.
You can still turn it to the side to get the album view, but it's a terrible way to search for music.
The Apple Lossless files sound terrific on the iPod Touch.
one thing you will notice immediately is that podcasts have moved into their own app, which is very prone to crashing and will stop streaming all together if you try to do anything else on the device.
So thumbs down on the Podcast app and thumbs up on the music app facelift.
