The Falcon Northwest Tiki gaming PC features the latest Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA 680 GTX graphics card, a full metal construction and a granite stone base. So does this fulfill your gaming needs? Matt Mira and Michael Ian Black find out on Gadget Pr0n.
What You Need To Know
- The Falcon Northwest Tiki desktop computer features a slim, clean tower design with a granite stone base.
- This gaming rig features every port you could ever want and on the graphics card along the DVI, there is an HDMI out. No VGA!
- When you open the computer up, you'll see that everything is crammed in pretty well, like a standard 2 TB hard drive, a solid state drive and liquid cooling, which is a huge plus on this PC.
- There's a lot of power hogging hardware in here and it's a very quiet machine because of the liquid cooling.
- This machine is fast! The configuration we tested has Intel's latest quad-core Ivy Bridge processor, a 2GB NVIDIA GTX 680, and 8 GB of RAM.
- These are mid-range specs, as far as what you can upgrade this thing to.
- We played Batman: Arkham City on the PC and the machine handled the game perfectly and quietly.
- The graphics card isn't even the top of the line, so a lot of the speed is due to the Intel processor, which clocks in at 3.5 GHz.
- The upgradability is important to mention because there are so many options that you can put in.
- Falcon Northwest has models starting at $1,500 with core i5 processors and less RAM, or you can spec out a machine that is north of $4,000 with 32 GB of RAM and a faster graphics card.
- You can even get custom colors and custom logos on it.
- That said, you are paying a premium for these options.
- There are definitely more price efficient desktops out there from companies like iBuyPower and even Alienware.
- In our opinion, those companies don't have the level of attention to detail that Falcon Northwest has.
Price
- Desktop PCs start at $1,500.
Rating
- 5 Seals of Approval out of 5. (How do we rate gadgets?)
- The design inside and out is top notch with an ample amount of ports.
- The liquid cooling is a huge bonus on this machine.
- There are faster machines out there for quite a bit less money but if you want good quality, custom hardware, we think this price is worth it.
