I can see why this video has a 2 star rating, this contest was rigged by fanboys.
Neither Mass Effect or God of War come to mind when I think great video game story, in fact I can think of several much better video game stories right off the top of my head.
Super Mario RPG, Final Fantasy 4,6,7, MegaMan Legends, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Dark Cloud 2, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask.
Have another contest where being old enough to drink is a requirement to vote and you will see much better results, Cheers.

At least it's down to two good games instead of a good one and a crappy one. As much as i love GOW, i have to admit the story wasn't it's strongest part, and it will probably lose to Mass Effect. oh and did anybody else hate that you couldn't comment on the deathmatches pages unless you wanted to link your email account to Facebook? not all of us have Facebook you know, G4TV ( and i'll never get one either). i wanted to put up comments but couldn't , stupid G4TV... leave the comments part like this is, so anybody who doesn't have a Facebook account can leave a comment about something here.

You know This contest is a joke when god of war beats KOTOR for best story

Looking at story alone, Mass Effect definitely has to win in my book. God of War has a compelling narrative, but ultimately the main draw was the game play. Mass Effect has one of the best, most well-thought out stories in any video game I've played.

God of War 1 had a great, classic story buried under mountains of the marketing department's favorite things: Blood and boobs.
Mass Effect 1 had a fantastically crafted world, alive and almost real at times, with an even more traditional story at its heart.
This is like putting a Platonic story that's been edited for Hollywood against the best episode of Star Trek ever. Ultimately, my vote goes to Mass Effect, but the first God of War game deserves a massive amount of credit.

Kratos is angry and wants revenge; so he goes and tries to kill his dad.
That's original.
Hint: Final Fantasy X

never plaed mass effect but i have played gow and i vote mass effect

mass effect bla bla bla god of war is the best

Mass Effect is clearly preferable to me. God of War was fun, but Kratos was the type of character that felt written by a 13-year-old boy.
