Sony needs to work on their marketing department because they really take a hit their. Most people don't even know that sony makes a tablet. And a fine one in the tablet S, the P ehh it was a risk and failed. They really need to push their products through ad's. They make great laptop's and TV's but the prices are way too high. They need to adjust and I think they will pull through just fine.

It's a different world for Microsoft these days.

    Microsoft isn't the King anymore

The world is buying more Apple PCs

The world has bought more Iphones and Ipads than Zunes.

    Microsoft has to make changes.

Rare has been ruined and Bungie gone.

Not releasing new exclusive IPs besides the ones that already exist.

Their LCD plant is merging with Toshiba and Hitachi.

Big Bang Studio and Zipper Interactive are shut down.

I'm curious to know how much the film and television division cost them as well. When you're shelling out 200 million dollars to Make MIB3 and rebooting Spiderman...course you're going to post a loss.

I agree with Sessler, but I do wonder what Sony has been thinking recently. Did they really need to buy up Media Molecule? Sucker Punch? Evolution? That is well over a billion dollars they didn't have to spend buying studios who were more than happy to make exclusives for them already that Sony already owned the IP to. Especially when that one Sony exec said a couple weeks ago that maybe they publish to many games and can't give each of them the advertising they all deserve.

I also remember the sony walkman. I owned one back in 1886. I think Sony can turn it around, but only if they swallow there pride a bit and adjust there TV and computers to match what Apple, and the Korean companies are doing. I might not be the biggest Playstation fan (I do have a PS1 and PS2 but both were bought at the end of there cycles). I hope these cut backs will not effect what they put into the PS4 and there price point.

Is Microsoft the only one of the big 3 that didn't lose any money this year? If so good for them just hope it doesn't make them to aragent.

    Here, learn a few things.

It's not the gaming division that's at fault, it's their electronics (TV's, audio, etc). There are a lot more companies making these items and Sony's exec's were too stubborn to change, kinda like our music and movie industries who've also lost millions. Competition and refusal to change certain departments. Speaking of which Sony also has a hand in the movie industry which doesn't help.

The Playstation line has always done well. Sure the price was high to start but so are most high end electronics and you do get what ya pay for. Nobody can fault them for the variety they offer.

I'm a huge fan of Sony, but their gaming division has made a lot of dumb moves this generation that haven't helped the company. Coming off the success of the PS2, they may have felt a bit to comfortable and reached a little too high. Their high launch price and difficult cell processor put them so far behind.

They have had a lot of great software though, creating new IPs that span many genres. Proactively scooping up quality developers like Sucker Punch and Media Molecule to add to their already impressive arsenal shows they have a promising future. I really don't care what hardware they give us, as I know developers like Naughty Dog and Santa Monica will create some really great games.

Backwards compatability...why I haven't bought a PS3. I love my PS2 and I have lots & lots of games and enjoy them all. They might may them prettier but the game play not as good.

Actually i think that SONY needs to take a reorganisation and start making things more like Apple.....At least in the Computers Department..... Make a GOOD MODEL of Tablet, Laptop, HDTV, Make a GOOD MODEL OF EACH ONE OF THOSE DEVICES....That No one can TOP!!!!! Then SELL IT with different spects....THE SAME MODEL just give us the OPTION to choose whether we want them with 32gb of 64gb or 160gb, Let the consumer decide how much money they are willing to pay for THE SAME QUALITY PRODUCT!!!! Even if i have a 32gb Table vs a 64gb Tablet...its still theSAME QUALITY!!!! Thats the issue here...people see HDTV of 40" and another of 55" and the one with 55" has a lot of thing that the one with 40" does NOT!!!! THE CONSUMER GOES TO SONY FOR QUALITY, THE CONSUMERS GOES TO APPLE FOR QUALITY, It doesnt Matter wat Macbook Pro i Take it still the same Good Quality with a diference in space and maybe some ram...THATS IT!!!!

Instead os spending money i 8 Different Modes Make ONE GOOD MODEL AND THEN JUST, MAKE UPDATES TO THE HARDWARE OR THE SOFTWARE ANNUALLY!!!!

Also Drop the Price for your Base Models and Make them More Competitive!!!! WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IS!!! TO CREATE THE BEST PRODUCT AT THE BEST PRICE YET!!!! AND LET THE CONSUMER DECIDE WHICH SPECTS they Want IN THAT DEVICE...Maybe More Space or More Motion Flow....REMEMBER THAT IM NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD PUT ONE THING IN ONE MODEL AND ANOTHER.....IM SAYING THAT THEY ALL SHOULD HAVE THE FEAUTURES JUST, LET THE CONSUMER DECIDE HOW MUCH!!!!! ;) THATS THE APPLE WAY and i think this would really work out for the PS4, having different hdd space models at launch, like the iPads!!! :)

Very few games on the PS3 actually utilize the complete Chip Processor. It takes time and people who are experienced with this language and logic of code. I do feel sorry that they're already moving on.

SONY has folded to Microsoft's hand, which are a pair of 3's.
They have to develop for the inferior xbox360 in order to make ends meet, which forces them to cut the labor and time for developing the game to the PS3's true potential -- i.e slower frame rates, longer loading times, glitching and freezing (which is why I never finished ME2).

    Oh well.
