In the market for new headphones but confused by all the different hip hop artist endorsements? Matt Mira and Kevin Pereira take a look at four different headphones on Gadget Pr0n, like Chambers by RZA, Soul by Ludacris SL300, Street by 50 and Beats by Dre Studio editions.

What You Need To Know

Street By 50

  • These are the most affordable headphones out of the bunch with a price tag of $250.
  • The design feels the cheapest and nothing really stands out about it other than the color.
  • The headphones feel good, nice and light.
  • The sound quality was good but not great.
  • It was also the quietest of the headphones we reviewed.

Beats By Dre Studio Headphones

  • These headphones were the first endorsed by a hip-hop artist.
  • The studio model retails for $299.
  • The design is standard and classic.
  • They are also very comfortable to wear.
  • There is a mute toggle on the right side and below has the switch for noise cancellation.
  • The headphones sound good but not great: bass is fantastic but a little overpowering.
  • Sound quality wise, it's a lot of mids and bass without a lot of clarity.

Chambers By RZA

  • These headphones retail for 275 Euros because they're sold out of the UK (which is about $360).
  • The design is both elegant and subtle with no LED lights or big red logos on the side.
  • These feel great as well, very similar to the Beats by Dre headphones.
  • They are a little on the heavier side, due to the batteries.
  • The sound quality is really good, though it wasn't as clean as the Soul by Ludacris.

Soul By Ludacris SL300 Model

  • These headphones sell for $299 which is the median for the market.
  • It's definitely a bold and very shiny design.
  • There's a button that makes them light up on the sides.
  • There's also cushioning on the inside.
  • Audio is clean with a full spectrum of highs, mids and lows.
  • It has some good bass on it, which is what you're paying in these headphones.
  • This one had the best design with ear cups that pivot inside the sides.

Rating

  • The Soul by Ludacris headphones were our pick of the bunch.
  • Bass was great without sacrificing mids and highs.
  • It's also the second cheapest at $299.

I am a professional rapper and own all of these headphones reviewed and I can tell you, theres really no difference between the high priced rapper endorsed headphones and the $8 jvc's you get at walmart.

All of those headphones look cool but I'm good on keeping my headphones that I bought from Sears for $7 and the ones I bought from K-MART for $10. That's all I need.

Review some REAL headphones like Sennheiser's or Shure.

really? not convinced this testing was empirically founded. And when speaking of design, that should be objective, not of personal taste, leave that to art. I'm a big fan or ATOS reviews, but not so sure about this one. Very surprised RZA by WeSC was not the standout.. I get the rapper endorsed grouping but maybe Nixon or Marley could have been included in the pack. Sorry, but I just don't understand the ludacris endorsement.. who would buy those in their right mind?
    still love you guys though

They are all rediculously overpriced. I'll stick to my $16 Sony headphones that fit comfortably behind my head.
