    The real problem here.

Repeated Bioware statements: No A,B,C endings. 16 different endings.

What we got: A,B,C choice at the last minute. 1 ending with 3 different colors.

Why people don't gets this I have no idea.

If I had known about that blatant lie I would not have purchased ME3 in the first place

The only real solution is to not buy their games day 1. Wait a while. look at user reviews not critics.

I am probably older than Stephen Johnson, but Nikole was my voice in this strange discussion.

First, one thing I ve noted is that, like Nikole, most of the posts I ve read have been measured and literate in explaining these concerns, in which the nature of the ending takes the energy out of wanting to revisit the Mass Effect universe. The label of entitled appears to me to be a way, encapsulated rather well in this Feedback, of avoiding addressing the concerns as they have actually been raised.

    Second, the comments of the others, and particularly of Mr. Johnson, are not grounded in the Mass Effect codex. As Nikole pointed out, the rebellion of the created against the creators was not a theme in Mass Effect, the 11th hour pronouncement by catalyst boy (and Mr. Johnson) notwithstanding. It was the creators of the Geth who got concerned about the capabilities of their creation and attempted to eliminate the uncomfortable reality of the nature of their creation. Contrary to Mr. Johnson's attempt to analogize the backlash, that really is a good paradigm for what happened here. Bioware created a gaming experience in which the gamers became capable of seeing the possibilities of the story in way the creators at Bioware are not comfortable with, and the reaction has been to turn on the players as those who do not appreciated the creative Gestalt of the creators. Like the Geth, however, it may be the gamers who vanquish Bioware to wander in the migrant EA fleet. { For completeness, no one is the Mass Effect universe, except maybe the catalyst boy, was the creator of the reapers. EDI was, at least in part, salvaged reaper tech, not a true creation of the Illusive Man. }

Finally, as Nikole articulated, inconsistency is a real issue. Mr. Johnson say he was happy with the ending he chose because the synthetics were gone and only in the organics were left, adam and eve, etc. But, the predicate of that choice is the the organics would once again create synthetics, and the cycle (again as explained only and heretically by catalyst boy) would repeat. Why is that a happy, reasonable, or satisfying choice?

    Yeah Nikole!

I want my game endings to be different every time... Take risks Bioware..

I travel a lot.. Its very sad when you are in a foreign country and you see tourists eating at Burger King..
They do it out of FEAR and Familiarity..
When you are on your "death bed" the last thing you wish for wont be a Whopper.. You only have your experiences.. your Risks, your Successes and Failures..
Like Shepard we ALL die alone.. No matter what WE choose..

    RIP Shep..
Thank you Bioware for the Best Experiences I've ever had in 3 Awesome games!!

You can always tell people who are really afraid of being proven wrong because they won't stop interrupting the person with whom they are arguing. This was Nikole for most of the episode. So annoying.

I played the series for the experience. I really didn't care that much about the ending. It didn't bother me, but it wasn't perfect either. The metacritic/Amazon stuff is just stupid. I think it's ridiculous that someone would give an amazing game a 1 out of 10 because they didn't like the ending. How can you just ignore all the great stuff that happened in that game just because it didn't end the way YOU wanted it to. I really hope this whole argument goes away soon because it's getting annoying. ME3 was awesome, Bioware has the right to make it how they want, and Stephen Johnson was right about all his art comments.

Nikole you are my Queen. Other then her the whole episode was pointless.

Why are episodes less then 40 minutes now?? This episode should have been an hour long period. If its because of Blair please find a new host! ( In ten words or less tell me if you want a new host)

The whole thing about the mass effect series was that your choices mattered and effected the game. Replaying the games I now feel like all the choices just end in the same result and you do NOT get a choice resulting ending in your decisions, instead you get 3 choices that do NOT explain why know of that mattered.

False advertising too. How can you same "your own personal ending", when there is only 3 choices for the ending.

If i said i was going to paint a picture of the stars and gave you a picture with ONLY 3 while dots against blackness wouldn't you be like wtf.

I am sick of getting BS'ed and thats what the end of ME 3 did for the entire series made my personal journey a LIE!!!!

And how could u guys not talk about the RELAYS getting blown up??? There should have been a way to keep all the relays from blowing up. So HOW COULD LIFE SURVIVE ALL THE RELAYS BLOWING UP???? Everything would be dead right???

The ending was disappointing. I spent well over 150 hours playing through the Mass Effect story all for a bland 3 minute clip. Bioware is normally on top of their game better than this which leads me to believe that this game didn't spend enough time in development. They argue and say that since this is a work of art it should stay the same, but at the same time we can tell that the development went through issues because it was delayed at least once. My argument is time is money and they didn't have enough to complete the trilogy the way it should have been. I personally don't need a new ending I just want closure for the ending that we already have. Maybe add another five minutes to the cut scene and have some scrolling text that explains how our actions caused the galaxy to be changed forever. Just give us something.....

I have complete respect for Bioware. They always created games that are immersive, beatiful, engaging and rich........and i certainly wouldnt want for them to loose staff, or people getting fired. But ultimately THEY made promise, i dont why people skip that, they made a promise and they didnt fulfill, they falsely advertised the game.......and thats it. I mean, i love, no i adore Mass Effect 3, but the ending just negates everything established thus far. I remember one interview where Casey Hudson states that the game wont have type A, B or C ending, and ultimately ending would be the one that is a consequence of your actions. I really like how Nicole states this promise that was made by Bioware and never fulfilled!! As i said i love Bioware and always will, and i thank them for creating this engaging piece of storytelling that i will never forget and i really do hope, and i think the rest of you, that they will release some sort of post-epilogue type DLC. Fingers crossed!!! Steve Johnson, i completely respect that you liked the ending, thats fine, no, thats great, but decisions made in previous games as Nicole mentioned, really didnt matter, rather we are presented with three choices that, as i previously mentioned negate everything established thus far, the lore, the story, the character(Shepard)-he is a tool in this scene, and in this scene, as someone mentioned on one video on youtube, shepard doesnt sacrifice himself, rather he is forced to do this by starchild!!! So in a way starchild is a hero that presents three choices that will save the galaxy!!! Steve Johnson, try to understand that we fans, who have been with this game since 2007/8 were hoping for more satisfying conclusion!!!! AND ONCE AND FOR ALL, WE DONT HAVE TO HAVE A HAPPY ENDING, just the ending where the choices made in previous games and in this one are presented through the ending, that we have the ending which comes from our choices, whether that ending is bad od good, honestly we dont care, we just want closure!!! i think thats what most people want, closure!!! and for the record whats wrong with a "happy" ending!!! Like Jeremy Jahns said that in games similar to Mass Effect, we understand the theme of sacrifice and the term "the hero has to die", but in the game, which is Mass Effect, the term" hero has to die", really doesnt apply that much, because this is a game that is surronded by CHOICES, so if we made a choice for which he has to die, okay, but if made a choice that will keep Shepard alive, then show us that!!! Mass Effect series forever!!!

Yeah good discussion yet they didn't really talk about the ending that many gamers wanted to watch/listen to but more so what the industry will result from this situation. Are we stock holders? Now I feel a lot of gaming news and discussion is focused towards them and less gamers now and days but that's just me. Would have loved the indoctrination theory talk and the discussion of space magic lol.

I'm confused as to why you didn't focus a little more on the Normandy, flying away from Earth for no apparent reason whatsoever....and becoming stranded on some planet somewhere. It was pointless. It was out of nowhere. We all wanted to see what happened to earth and the other races, and instead we were given a weird, out-of-place cliffhanger. And you guys barely even mentioned this...

I think if this was released the week of launch, it might have increased sales, because it makes people put on their "review hats" and try the game out for themselves.

This was a good conversation. They should be doing more of this; taking the pulse of the gaming community for their subjects. It was insightful, opinionated and heated at some points -- everything debate should be.

    Why not more of this?

    Oh, and...

    ...looking good Nikole!

I appreciate the level headed discussion in this episode.

That being said, the reason I hate the ending is because is it totally incoherent, and then retroactively destroys replayability and nostalgia for the entire series up to that point.

Yes, give Nicole more time. Tell the old man to practice listening to others and not talking.

Thank GOD for Nikole stepping in and making sense about how awful that ending was. I almost didn't make it through this episode listening the the love fest that was going on for that crap fest of an ending from Stephen and Donell.

Look 99% of the game was AMAZING, but that last 5 minutes was so completely retarded that it stained the rest of the game for me. This is the first Mass Effect game I've played where I have absolutely no desire to go back and play it again.

The guy with the glasses gave the worst excuse for how the ending "wrapped everything up." He was reaching, really, really far. It left so very much wide, wide open.

.> You all didn't quite study everything. My problem with the ending is that it's obviously a false ending, and the real ending will be DLC I will have to pay for on it's own.
