Everyone has the right to an opinion, even if they are flat wrong, and being pretentious is not being "artistic" nor correct. To say that building a product towards the desires of the consumer will somehow dilute are is about as pretentious as you can get.If you want to be an artist that takes chances, perhaps you should sell your art. But if you ask people to lay down money, then it's a product and the consumer who lays down that money has a right to be satisfied or not satisfied. The starving artist paradigm is cute, except it starts with the word "starving." This is what drives me nuts about geek snobs and their idea that somehow fans do not have the right to demand they get what they feel they pay for. Now if Mass Effect were given away for free, no problem. Be artistic, take your chances with your story. But if you offer a thing for profit, then those who put their hard earned dollars and spend their time on these things have a right to ask for satisfaction for the money the spent, and the time they took.In the so-called geek and nerd world the masses get put down because of their opinions
Here is a thought Bioware releases ME1 for computer but with a toolkit identical to Skyrim and let the fans produce quality patches, levels and worlds to help the developers get back on track.
If Charles Dickens could change the end of Great Expectations based on fan feedback, I'd say Bioware can make some changes without compromising their artistic integrity. In Dickens' case, he provided a canonical "happy ending" for fans, and the original, pessimistic ending (as a "Note") for critics.I thought that the endings were satisfactory for the story of Mass Effect 3 - which probably had the least good writing of the series (i.e. still good, but ME2 was better, and ME1 was best) - but a bit rubbish for the series overall. For me, Nikole nailed it in observing that Bioware had promised Return of the Jedi, but delivered Matrix Revolutions.
I am so MAD at feedback. So this week its Star Wars lloll right after ME 3's short epidode.So in "ten words or less" tell us why you probably wont spent 45 minutes talking about SWTOR or starwars. I wonder which of them played SWTOR and got to lvl 50. Also the ME 3 question . At which point does Shepard get indoctrinated ?
I would have to say that I have no problem with the ending of the series. The people at Bioware work hard and make great games. Not everyone is going to like the ending of the game and a lot aren't going to have a problem with it. I don't have a problem with the ending of the game but i do have a slight problem that I really wanted to see how my decisions and the ending i chose actually affected the universe. The game in my opinion did give enough information on the Reapers and left the whole idea of who created them and why they destroy organic civilization to the imagination of the player. I do have my own idea on why. But a little thing that bugs me is the rest of my squad in the game. In Mass effect 2 I came to like all of my squad and when one would die during the final batlle with the collectors i would feel bad that i couldn't help them. I did come to like all the characters in the third game but during the final battle in London i couldn't help but wonder wheir they were, what they were doing to help the final push, and if they had survived or died. But in the end I love the Mass Effect series and love going back and playing through the games time and time again.

We are not up set about the points leading up to the last points but the last point itself.We as gamers( my point of view) wanted a rap up of the reationship and what happening 5 years down the road and will the galaxy recover. I understand that video games are abusiness first and entertainment second.
multiplayer should have been on its own disc, much like Halo 3's was with ODST.
I think Nicole said at one point that no one is claiming to be entitled to a new ending, and that is utter bull. Go look through the comments talking about the mass effect ending on different pages and see how many times "owed," "right," and "deserve" appear.
I was very emotionally engaged in the story. But only because it felt like "My" story. I felt guilt when I hurt Miranda by turning her away. I felt remorse at the choice of the Quarians over the Geth, and that the Quarians chose to irradicate the Geth rather than get along. It was a very hard decision to make. I chose the Red ending, knowing full well that it would mean the death of EDI, whom I felt very endeared to. But I understood the sacrifice that was being made, and it hurt me to choose their death. But I felt it was my 1st responsibility to choose the option that most provided a life for mine & Liara's children. And getting me home to them should be priority.But there was no happy ending, all are stranded or dead.I played 1 & 2 multiple times, and fully expected to play 3 again. Up until I finished it, and now I'm doubtfull I will. Also I'm hesitant to play the next Mass Effect.There's something to be said about a happy ending.P.S. why the Frak is your show getting so short? It used to be close to an hour consistently, now it's like you're trying to hit the 30m mark. I miss the longer format.
What I'd like to know is how heavily does the business end of games effect the art of the industry. What is the percentage of art to business in the gaming model, are there any examples of games being changed from their original artistic representation because of "good business?" And if that is the case, do developers make indie games because they want to produce a product without having to be constrained with the red tape of a budget or is it simply out of convenience of a smaller, synergistic group?
One of the best Feedbacks in awhile.But i can only agree with Nicole, that girl is a 100% right and the ending is not art or should even be considered art. Its a badly done rushed ending because the games deadline was getting close and Bioware have used to much time on multiplayer.
I was a die hard fan of the Mass Effect series but after really looking at ME 2 and ME 3 i can say i really cant look at those games as rpg's instead of a mission based cut scene driven fps with rpg elements.NO GAME CHANGERS I talked to alot of ppl who brought this up and i even argued for the case of ME and defending what I had thought were game changing decisions i made, Until i beat ME 3. There it was the proof that nothing you did really effected to out come of the game.ME 1 will always be in my top 5 games but ME 2 and ME 3 will always make me think i was lied to. That my story didn't matter, no matter what i do i cant take the fight to the Reapers, I cant keep the mass relays from blowing up and have no idea when i may have been indoctrinated.I dont know how anyone a fan of Mass Effect as a whole could ever be satisfied with this ending. Which is really the same just 3 little choices to see different colors in the background. WHAT A FARCE!!!
Some of you really don't get it, the ones who say the ending is fine are acting like there was only THE ending. There is no THE ending there are MULTIPLE ENDINGS so yes there should have been a 'Michael Bay Ending', AND a ending where 'rocks fall and everyone dies', and even a freaking M. Night Shyamalan ending for those cheap -blank- who only bought the last game.The point is Bioware had both the means and methods to write a Happy ending, and Sad ending, and anger ending.... and everything between as a matter of fact that is what they said they would do in the first place instead of getting a ending based on our CHOICES we got three limited ending based on a POINT SYSTEM. This point system only cares that you passed a threshold not if you brought peace to multiple race or committed multiple counts of genocide, not if you were a inspiring hero uniting the galaxy, or a complete driven amoral -blank- who has the galaxy fighting reapers because their not as scary as you.No YOUR ending MOSTLY depends on weather your above or below Five. Thousand. Points. And that ladies and gentlemen is -blank- no matter the ending

This was the best designed Mass Effect game of the trilogy, there are no complaints about quality from me. However, killing of Shepard and destroying the relays at the end is akin to getting a great deal on a Ferrari (lets say $10,000), except, no matter what you do, that engine will seize and burst into flames after travelling 500 miles. It was great driving that car, right up to the point when the engine blew up.

I had no problem with any of the endings. I did not go into the series thinking that all was going to end with a happy ending. I like the games for what they are and enjoyed the experience all the way through. If this is the end of Shepard then that is ok with me. I don't want him/her going the way of Master Chief just to make money. I will play through the games many more times as it was a good ride and I will stand behind Bio-ware with what ever they do with the franchise in the future.
Spolier: one of my friends told me in his ending Earth was destroyed, another told me Shepard turned into a Reaper. That never happened with mine
Ok so the girl does sound a little like a whiny teenager. and her ghost child analogy is retarded. The "Ghost child" as she says, is supposed to be a deity like God and or Christ and this was their Armageddon as described in the bible and they were unleashing it by way of reapers. They also portray Shepards sacrifice like christs sacrifice on the cross to save humanity from hell, or in mass effects case, total destruction by Reapers. And as far as she says about not playing it ever again because she knows the outcome was only a difference in colors, well the outcome of ME2 was only different by colors: Collector Base, (destruction) either a giant Red Atomic Blast that the Normandy barely escaped or (preservation) a giant white pulse that the normandy barely escaped. Despite it being the same I replayed that game 7 times because the true differences played out in the journey of each game, not the end. Spoilers: Some of my friends didnt have wrex, Kaiden, Ashley, Rachni Queen or Council through out the last game because their choices were carried with them throughout the series. Same can be said for ME2 Choices they carried with them into ME3.
