To the members of Feedback. I love Feedback and have been watching it since its inception, but today's conversation has me wanting to point a couple of things out. Regarding the topic of EA turning off servers. First off, the EULA's, ya know that long list of conditions everyone accepts without reading, they usually state that they can shutdown servers at anytime. We accept it when we say yes to the EULA. Second, how hard can it be to maintain server farms? I'd bet its time for some of your staff to visit your IT department and spend a day or two seeing what it takes to keep those servers going. Its not as easy as you would think, that's why most IT departments are 24 hour shops. Your IT guys are hard at work keeping your website and content up while you travel the world to cover the latest video game stories, to trivialize their efforts as "How hard can it be?" is just as disheartening to IT professionals as it is to you when you hear "How hard can it be to write a review for a game?, I could do that"

The woman that sued McDonalds for the hot coffee was an elderly woman that recieved severe burns and required major surgery because of a mulfunctioning coffee machine McDonalds knew about and did nothing about, Blair.

I can't say anything about the DLC access for those games (cause that's weird), but a few things about the whole "just screwing people over by destroying the online functionality" of those games:

-less than 1% of the online players ... that says it right there. EA's a business, and they are not going to cater to those few people still playing those games.

-why would this happen for a popular, AAA game? They know it's going to bring them bad press if they do something stupid like that, so they're only shutting off the rarely played games' servers

-what about those other publishers out there who DON'T tell you they're shutting an online component down? EA is coming out and saying that the online for these games is going down in a month (which, to correct some of the people on feedback, DOES constitute as a warning); but because they come out and warn you, people get upset. What about the publisher who just shuts it down without telling anyone. It does happen. I think just because EA has such a variation in the types of games they publish and DO have some games that just are not played online much is not a bad thing; this isn't Activision who has like 1 type of online game, and is perfectly willing to keep old servers online (that are probably hacked to all hell)

Just the way I see it. (i.e. move along, nothing to see here or complain about, I say).

This show should do animations of sound bits taken for the broadcast, like the rooster teeth's podcast, it would be hilarious!

If you activate Midnight Club DLC in Saboteur, it doesn't censor the dancers in the club you start, so the dances are topless and gives you access to gambling games. So it's not a big deal, unless you're a horny teen. People will care more about what EA is doing if it's happening to better or more recent games. I play the FIFA series but not the PSP and Wii versions and it's happening to FIFA 10, the series is currently on 12 going to 13 later this year, so it's not a big deal to me.

I think Blair's shirt is the reason the episode turned out so dark. Looks like what Alec Baldwin wore in Beetlejuice.

I'm not a Blair-hater, but I had to get that in. Anyway, great episode!

Loved the "weirdnss" in this episode. Reminds me of the rooster teeh podcast and any podcast bexomes better when the participants are having a fun discussion, even if they aren't really talking about anything.

This is a sneaky thing some companies are trying to do.Making a game that you have to be online to play(I remember just recently hearing that Diablo 3 will be that way).I'm hardcore single player offline, and I'm totally happy. Who is this Leah with insider info?

Hey guys, Well I totally agree with you, EA is just being selfish and greedy. I am sure it wont take a lot to keep these games servers running but that's EA F the gamer and give us your money.

I just looked at the online pass that came with Dead Space 2 and it says...
"EA may retire online features after 30 days notice posted on WWW.EA.COM/2SERVICE-UPDATES."< br />So, I'm pretty sure they've been planning on these kinds of things for awhile now. It's not too shocking but if it starts happening 6 months or a year from a AAA title release then it will become a problem.
It's a real shame that the DLC for games won't be available but maybe that's part of the motive behind the disc locked DLC stuff that Capcom and partially EA have been doing as of late. Instead of shutting down servers completely they could do what the feedback crew was saying and and just send an unlock code for the disc instead of constantly maintaining the multiplayer and other online features
