Perhaps more people will come back to PC when they realize that hackers can trick a game into believing it's received confirmation from a server, assuming EA ever tries to pull these shenanigans with a popular game.
On the other hand, I still can't believe that DRM can legally exist that has the potential to prevent you from using something you own. That doesn't seem entirely legal to me, maybe someone could look into that, or if anyone knows a good lawyer with some time on his/her hands.

Why does EA's decision come as a shock?
This feedback covered maybe 1/4 of the gaming news that's been coming out.
It's like ESPN only covering Tebow and not the Saints Punishment today.
MASS EFFECT 3 DAY ONE LAUNCH DLC!

"what if activision took off the server for an old call of duty so everyone would move to the new one" have you played modern warfare 1 or world at war lately? the servers are there but there is nobody monitoring them, so you need to play 100 games to get 1 that isn't completely hacked

I'm glad I only buy bargain bin EA games that doesn't need online. Once again I win because I am just that cheap.

EA's shutdown of their servers is even worse when you realize that, technically speaking, running servers for console games isn't like running dedicated servers for something like an MMO. Little data is stored, and instead it only acts as a middleman to allow matchmaking. The reason old games from other publishers still often work years later is because EA runs this all through their own proprietary servers and infrastructure.
I'm really glad the Feedback crew was unhappy with this practice because it really is bad form of EA to do, and very anti-consumer to fight used games with online passes, using server costs as the argument for its existence, and then turn around and shut down the servers. They deserve to be criticized for it.
Unfortunately, the Internet being what it is, thoughtful critiques and discussions of these issues in the industry usually lie under a suffocating blanket of vitriol, and it's disappointing that the issues go unaddressed in the larger industry discourse because of that.

Leah's probably making use of her insider connections right now. She doesn't have time to waste it on trivial matters like Feedback....I MEAN....THANK YOU FOR FEEDBACK!!!! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN....it's sorta like winning the lottery vs. winning a bigger lottery; they're both favourable situations, yet it's obvious which one is preferred.
