I didn't think the endings may have been the greatest in the world, but my viewpoint on it is the same as Adam's. Didn't have a problem with the endings.

And before you ask, YES I played ME1 and ME2 multiple times before playing ME3.

So Adam, I have a problem with what you though of the ending. One I have played the crap out of this game an am on my third play through, and can see where you are getting at when you say you are diasapointed with the ending. I thought that at first, and when I thought about it, really thought about it, I couldn't find a problem with it. It reminds me of a little movie called Stranger than Fiction when Will Ferrel has to deal with a little situation (thats all I'm going to say, dont want tot spoil the game). Shepard deals with tht e same thing and decides what to do with the based on the expierence you had throughout the previous games. Again, in case anyone is reading this who hasn't finished the game is reading this, I don't want to ruin the ending. But I think that the ending was beautifully done, especially if you watch after the credits, and couldn't have asked for a better one.

"...We did things that changed the world, and they were glorious; but we f'd up the end game..."

    - Charlie Wilson

No other quote says it best. This game's ending is ONE OF THE WORST I HAVE EVER PLAYED!!!

BOTH the first and second Mass Effect games took me OVER 60+ hours to beat... this game, with 100% completion, took a little over 30 hours...

ME3 is HALF the game it SHOULD/COULD HAVE BEEN!!! It was obviously rushed to production; all for the money.

If Bio truly wanted to "create art", they would have actually put in the effort. ALL stories come full circle, not half baked "solutions", or none at all.

Rachni, basically pointless - you don't get an army, you get a couple of hive workers after you spare the queen twice.

Geth - dead or pointless no matter what you do (as they merge with life if you take middle path, destroyed, or slaves of reapers)

Krogan, basically doomed to extinction no matter what you do - sabotage their tower will wipe them out, fix their tower and wipe them out because they are now 10 billion horny krogan condemned to ONE PLANET that's riddled with nuclear waste and a giant worm that eats reapers (btw it probably becomes indoctrinated and then destroys all the krogan, then all life as it shoots into space its eggs).

Quarians, basically will die off - half their people, mostly males, fight for earth (if chosen), which means they will starve on earth, while rest are stuck on home planet across galaxy (if you help them).

    Turians - basically toast

    Asari - basically toast

Salarians - eggs are toast, = death of race

Prothians - 1's back, but then he goes A.F.K and becomes a worthless add-on to the series (thanks btw for charging for material that should be FREE for all)

Crew of the Normandy - They are with me, ON EARTH, but then, for some reason, after my solo sprint to the citadel (which takes way to long); they decide to go on one last jump in space to land on an uncharted jungle planet. what!? They will die from random disease, or lack of food (Tali and Garris are along for the ride, even if you have them as companions on last mission), or hostile wildlife.

Virtually the SAME 3 choice endings = F.A.I.L!!! Not even an original ending (I must destroy you to prevent you destroying yourself); complete kr. -ap.

This game could have gotten a 5/5, but with the game basically cut in half the length it should have been (more filler quests for story for each race should have been in), with the worst ending I've seen in years (perhaps the worst ever), this game should get a 2.5 / 5 at best.

The only feature that could make it a 3/5 is the multiplayer, that SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE FIRST TWO GAMES!!!

...I am disappointed in this game, and I feel Bio has stolen my time and money...

    2/5 AT BEST...

I personally feel a lot of vitriol toward the ending for two major reasons:

    The first is tone related:
ME3's ending takes a big dump on everything which lead up to that point. Th series was based on A) great writing and B) the results of characters actions having weight. Not only does ME3's ending not take into account more or less any decision you had up to that point, but it leaves you with 3 predetermined choices, none of which I'd want to go with. It also serves to destroy everything we'd worked up to defend, that is not a satasfying conclusion to a story.
Even if the "it was a dream" theory is right: that is one of the cheapest and worst story writing gimmicks ever invented. It is beneath bioware, and I am right to expect better of them.

The second reason is to do with the marketing behind it:
From the interview given and the "remember to buy our DLC!" advert at the end: I conclude this exists purely to garner free publicity, and to milk us of either 10 bucks for the "good" ending, or another 60 for a contrived fourth installment. This makes me feel used, and ripped off. This is not how I should feel after pouring over 200 bucks and 100s of hours into a series.

This goes to prove just one thing and I don't think its about the whole, character investment, its that fans of a series will NEVER let it die. People come on, you are whining about a bad ending to a game that has seriously been around longer than any other non yearly franchise. Looking the game play and decision making aside for a second, How selfish are you demanding that the entire teams of bioware suit your fancy and not say move on to possibly a more impressive and better project.

Shame on everyone thinking that they can just bully around Bioware to get what they want, if anything they should hold a survey and ask everyone what they thought of the ending in paragraph essay form, anyone who can make a conclusive argument that doesn't include the words cop out, deus ex machina {Which is a fine mechanic when utilized} or consistency and actually prove that besides being an ENDING to mass effect that what happened was a bad ending, well you should be invited to join the writing staff because apparently you know better

    Honestly the petulant behavior of gamers will never cease to amaze me, as consumers what is your solution for a game that has dissatisfied you "THROW MONEY AT IT!" AT least someone either benign or just plain naive was good enough to say "Lets donate to childs play" as a consumer understand, you don't buy a game the company notices, you BUY THE GAME AND THE DLC AND THE GOTY EDITTION, guess what they're just going to keep on doing it over and over and over {Looking at you call of duty}

IN short, please let shepard die, let him be gone and rest in peace if they MUST do another mass effect I demand an entire plot based around the life of an assari commando.. also why did no one seem to give two seconds of their life when Cole died at the end of Infamous two hero's story?... am I missing something or is a structured plot death less of a blow than a sudden unexpected one?

The ending was great, but it needed more shots of the Normandy.

Other folks also bring up the good point that the ME series is based on player decisions and consequences. The ending of ME3 does not subscribe to that premise because it lobs you a couple choices, and that's the end. No consequences to observe, just roll a die and read the credits.

Nevermind the blatant foreshadowing of Shepards death the entire time he was on Earth saying his final farewells to everybody.

It's like the end of Rage all over again.

I cannot understand how the ending of such a fantastic trilogy could be so bloody disappointing. I get that Shepard dies, just like Kratos died, but how can you end this story with zero closure?

I wanted to know what happened to everybody. All I got to see is 3 survivors per ending: Joker, Liara (my love interest), and EDI or Javik depending on which ending I chose. What about the other members of my crew, what about James, Cortez, Ashley, Dr. Chakwas, Diana Allers, Garrus, Tali, Wrex, the engineers?

Furthermore, without spoiling the entire thing, how do you go and destroy the basis of the universe you've created in the process? How is there going to be another Mass Effect game that isn't a prequel (is anyone else as sick of prequels as I am)? What do the the Krogan, Turians, Assari, Quarians and Geth do after that?

The whole "Architect" aspect of the ending was lame too. It sucked in the Matrix, and it's no better here. All I can say is that there had better be a door that leads back to the real world with some DLC because after 5 years of being completely fulfilled by this series, the ending of the series has left me totally empty inside.

Adam im sorry, i disagree with you. The people are not upset that Shepard dies, they are upset that BioWare gives NO closure to the other characters.
The game ends with 3 same endings with a different light show, with 1 allowing for a slight change to each of em. Then there are plot holes like the Normady running away from the fight BEFORE shepard has made his choice.
The fact there is no explaining on how your CHOICES from the games has effected the galaxy.
The fact that in the Arrival DLC says blowing up a Mass Relay will cause a Super Nova, so destroying ALL the Relays would destroy the entire Galaxy.
What about the other races who came to earth to destroy the Reapers.... The entire galaxy is now stuck in Earths Solar System (if they are not dead from the Super Nova from the Mass Relay explosion.

Serious Adam, its not about him dying, its about the fact the writting was so bad, it leaves more questions and plot holes then they answer. I could go into a huge rant about how the ending itself makes sense how the "ghost child" is NEVER mentioned and the whole we created robots to destroy people because the robots that people create will kill the people so here aer some robots to kill the people ending is just bull..... but i wander. The point MOST people are upset about is the lack of understanding of how their choices they have invested SO much time and emotion into... effect one little bit of the galaxy after the reapers.... cause NOTHING is explained.

Sorry Adam, im normally behind you 100% this time, your wrong.

Adam is 100% right....people do get soo invested into their favorite characters that if the ending doesn't satisfy them they take their frustration to the internet...i'm willing to bet only half of you posting on here hasn't played the entire series so people bioware did this for a reason and that reason is publisity...look there is currently 6 pages of posts on here and 100's more on the forums on bioware.com...it makes sense everyone is talking about the ending of course bioware did it on purpose to get our attention like it or not it is what it is

I'm okay with the ending. I of course had something else in mind. I would've liked to have a wrap up of what happened to everyone with the choices I made. I would also like to know why the Normandy was running away and how the crew on Earth was on the ship at the end? Plus when a relay is destroyed doesn't the blast wipe out the entire system?

Adam! I'm so happy at how well you're representing your side of the argument, with respect and dignity. I disagree with you on only a few points because I think they are slightly more complex than you presented them, but I don't feel attacked as a fan with an opinion that is different from yours. Thank you!

Also lets not forget alot of the 1% of people who had not one complaint have only played mass effect 3 and not the whole series. The fans from mass effect 1 who played all three gave this saga its strength and constant support. And it just seems funny how the media keeps showing the review scores and good tweets, must be digging deep to find those tweets. We have to speak up and keep pressure on or future of mass effect will continue like this. Like Garrus said in the game "I followed your lead Sheppard keep yelling and someone will eventually come over to see what all the fuss is about. I know Bioware has a live action movie coming, an anime movie, figures, comic books. We must keep voicing our opinion so they will have to address it, and not just disregard it like hudson did on interview. The future for mass effect is at a pivotal moment and they will have to take the time to address this. If we dont keep on them the series will continue to lose what we all love. We all know they write much better then this, it was either rushed, or they were busy with other projects, EA, or they were burned out. If Hudson and Bioware truly listen to fans then listen now. This is not a joke the fans are serious.

Adam's stance on this subject extremely frustrating. I trust his opinion more than anyone else when it comes to video games, but on this, he is just flat wrong. Whats worse is that I don't even believe that he believes it!

How can anyone say that this is a good ending? Deus ex Machina is not an ending, its a cop out! You use this tired plot device when you are out of ideas. We should have been warned that the ending was weak. Good game, horrible ending. But no, he says he likes it! He likes an ending that is almost as good as "The End" If you liked this ending, you've never read a book! The end of this game was lazy.

*Non-Spoiler Spoiler ahead, cuz it didn't happen.*

My Shepard would have said, "Keep your rainbow food coloring, I have another idea. All ships, fire on my position!"

I don't want to attack Adam personally, but really? Shill much?

It is not about a happy ending! The problem is lack of continuity. Where is big cinematic with ships destroying reapers at end. Or just big cinematic for ending showing something, crew, mourning, rebuilding. Where is Harbinger? Doesnt destroying relays destroy systems? Being coerced into romances due to better scenes, and not just picking the one you want. Best cinematics were in middle, not end. The ending itself wasnt problem it was just boring. The scene when ships come out of relays and start firing on reapers felt like a star wars movie and was exciting. Where was all these cinematics they hyped up at the end. And crap squad members that just held places like diana ellers a reporter come on.

Here's another one with the gaming industries logic.

A television that shows video and produces audio 100% of the time? Well if you got one that didn't you would complain? So your television cuts in and out with its video and Audio? Thats just the TV's companies form of Artisitic expression. They call it.... INTERMITTENT!
