Man purse??? who needs that? I carry a backpack everywhere I go pretty much. It has a book to read, my PSP and my clipboard (since I am an artist). Simple, lightweight, better than a purse really. In fact it seems like fewer and fewer girls these days even carry purses themselves.

Uncharted and Resistance on the Vita shouldn't scoffed at when Mario and Zelda are what you mainly look forward to on Nintendo's handhelds.

So let me get this straight.....

a 3DS selling more in it's first 9 months than the DS (the second best selling video gaming console of all time and the best selling portable gaming system of all time) sold in it's first 12 months means the the portable gaming market is dying?

That is some sound logic right there folks.... -_- I love how people say the portable gaming market is dying, but cannot point to any data that says so. It's sad journalism has sunk so low....

.....I have no evidence to back up my statement, but it totally makes sense with the newspaper apps doing so well on the iPad and smartphones. ...sound logic right there folks ;)

Ooh look it's another video game person who is obviously influenced by all of the other video game journalists who prematurely offer their views of doom and gloom for anything portable that is not an iPhone.you tried to kill the 3D's and it didn't work, now you are trying to kill the vita and that won't work either.I don't expect this sort of thing from you Adam.rise above my friend.oh and just a doesn't, after hundreds of dollars of buying iPhone games I still have not found one that plays like or sustains me like my good old handheld.

I don't know if I'm the first to say it, but a young Esbern (Skyrim)? I think that's your beardage alias Adam.

I pre-ordered a PSP back in the day so I find myself weary of the Vita. I'll be watching it for months after millions get their hands on it to see where developers go from there once they get more US gamers' feedback (you know, a year out, two years out...).

    I'm getting the Vita.
    PS3 experience anywhere I go?
    Yes please.
I have an Android tablet, that I got primarily for gaming, and let me tell you, I do not use it.
I occasionally use it for looking up recipes when i'm in the kitchen, and that's about it.
The Vita has ALL of the inputs that we are all familiar with and then some, I don't see how this thing could possibly fail.
Game developers are going crazy over the thing in regards to WANTING to develop for it.
Plus they made the Dev-kits significantly more affordable for developers, and more user friendly for them as well.
Call of Duty on the vita?
You really think that's not going to sell systems?
Those are all games for Home consoles that will SEAMLESSLY transition to the Vita without compromising gameplay like they had to in the previous generation.
Plus we are getting titles specifically designed for the Vita, Unit 13, Gravity Rush, Escape Plan, Sound Shapes. Heck, those 4 titles alone would make the launch lineup better than the 3DS launch, and that thing has sold 15 million units now.
I'm not saying that it is guaranteed, but just about; Unless Sony absolutely refused to let developers launch games for it, then what is stopping this thing from selling?
I doubt it will have a wonderful launch, but after launch when they pick up on the commercials and raise awareness on it, and more and more and more games start launching for it, This thing is going to take off. Look at what started selling the 3DS for nintendo, Super Mario 64 3D- A port from a fricken Nintendo 64 game! along with Ocarina of Time; I'm not saying that those aren't good games, but if you consider the fact that most people were buying them for the second time, that says something.
Sony isn't just porting games from the ps2 to the Vita, it has new titles from familiar franchises as well as All new IPs.
Nintendo 3DS didn't fail when we were all starting to lose hope on it, so why would the Vita?

i would get the vita for that gravity game. but i am so poor i cant even go grocery shoping so yeah this time of the year is a bad time to launch. plus i got a 3ds (bought at full price not dropped one) so i got those games to think about to get like tales of the abyss is coming to US around the time the vita. and i want some that is already out. i just don't have cash to spare for vita. espesally now.

Now, if they can persuade enough people to put down Iphones and Ipads long enough to play the darn thing......

I think feburary is probably the prime time to release this new console ... not only are people getting tired of thier christmas games here around feb, but they get thier income tax checks .. many people will spend thier income tax on a vita i bet

I am very interested in the Vita, I just can't decide what launch games I will get based on the limitations of my wallet.

Just like in Japan, the Vita will fail. And if a Sony product can't sell in Japan, it most definitely can't sell here.

But the point is, the Vita has no point. It's purposeless. Pointless. Without a reason.

We have Nintendo. We have the DS. We have the 3DS. The PSP failed for a reason and so will the Vita follow.

You can argue, but I have history backing me up and that is all the defense that I need.

Adam, I think you are right at to why Sony want to push the PSVita in the beginning of the year where people don't spend alot. Things like video game sale does better during summer and around Black Friday. Sony need to hire a better marketing team because selling new system in the beginning of the year just doesn't make sense.
