Hate to say it folks, the Vita is going to die. Sure, it will sell really well, initially, due to the hardcore gamer crowd that is also interested in handheld gaming, but this system will have virtually no casual gamer market penetration at all. $250.00, and then oh yeah-you have to spend another $100.00 to get 32gb of memory? The games look great but they are going to be priced around what-50 bucks?

I just don't see parents opting to buy this thing for their kids over a 3DS. As for more casual gamers, I think they are more than happy with their iphone games. I am more of a core gamer, and I am pretty happy with just my ipod touch games when I ride light rail to work. Without any kind of market penetration in to that non-core gamer consumer this system is doomed.

It may be worth selling, but is it worth buying?

Is it better than XBOX or PS3 or a PC? Why would I pick the PS Vita versus those three types of systems?

The obvious selling point is: You can play on the go.

However, can you play as you drive? Nope. Can I play at work? Maybe for 5 or 10 minutes 0n my breaks? When I am at home, will I play it? If I am at a club... will I play it? At school, do they allow kids to play in class? During breaks and lunch.... again... maybe 5 to 10 minutes of game play?

I really envy people with Sony products. Sony does an amazing job of giving you guys true variety unlike Microsoft. Look at lasts years exclusives Sony released a serious game in just about every genre you can name Microsoft gave us a couple of shooters, one a remake, and a racer, all three were great but still.

I have mine preordered. I will carry it in my labtop or in the winter my inside coat pocket. I have 2 kids, 12 and 8. My 12 year old is growing out of his ds. The games and graphics dont cut it. He hates the 3ds small screen and has no interest in the 3d. I will be shocked if he doesnt grab my vita a lot the same as he is using my ps3 and xbox 360 now. This system will appeal to the 12-22 crowd for gaming. They will still want phones but when they are on the go and want to game they will pull out the vita. Only mistake I think sony made was it not being 4g. I plan to just use my 4g phone and create a wifi access point if I want to play on the go.

On the non-issue of Man Purse.

    Cell phone, Vita, and iPad.

I'll assume that most male consumers buy pants with at least two pockets so two of those items have a place. Where is anyone carrying an iPad besides their hands? A backpack? Briefcase? Laptop bag? I find it odd to bring up Man purse when talking about Vita as if an iPad isn't twice...or three times the size of Vita. It's a stupid point. C'mon man!!!!

As for the launch date. Vita will probably suffer in the US. Sony knows that. Could it be that the US is not the focus anymore? Whatever the case, I'm buying one day 1. Most people I know, knows nothing of Vita's existence. Those people are not gamers so that's expected. My gamer friends know all about Vita and people like that will be the ones out buying Vita. The people that don't know about Vita, will have all year to find out. It makes more sense to build excitement for Vita than drop it in a market that went cold on Sony products for the last 6 years. Let Vita get hot over the summer and it will have solid sales this Christmas.

If Sony increases their advertising for the Vita it should help increase sales. The Vita's game lauch line up looks very good.

Adam looks like an MMA fighter with his new beard.

Just get rid of the Ipad and use the Iphone and the PS Vita what do you need an Ipad for then. That is my plan. Two small items and one is in a holster on my belt the other can be in my bag.

I agree with Sessler's views. I mention the PS Vita to people and they have no idea what I am talking about. The launch titles look really great and I wonder if the drop in sales in Japan had more to do with that. I confess I know little about Japanese tastes in games but the lineup looks more appealing to Western audiences in my mind. Escape Plan looks intriguing but, again, without enough advertising, no one will know what they are missing. The February date may be nice in that it coincides with tax refunds but without ads, refund money won't get spent on this. I am really looking forward to getting it and I want nearly every game that is in the launch window. Having that many desirable titles at launch is exceptional.

honestly, I'm waiting for the PSPhone. I almost got an xperia play, and I very seriously considered it, but it seemed so heavily panned that I didn't want to invest in it. I don' t want or need a ton of portable devices, I want one.

The question is, is a "core experience" portable gaming platform truly realistic an item, or is the portable space confined to casual games. I know the PSP has done some excellent titles, but when functionality of that device is split between a phone and gaming platform, I'm wondering how powerful they can make the platform without it being too large, or have other caveats to it's character as a phone.

And a pure portable gaming platform is going to sit unused if I buy one. It's got to fit in my pocket, and have a reason to be there apart from gaming. I want to pick it up when I unexpectedly have time on my hands. I still consider an xperia play...I hope that platform takes off despite it's slow start, or a PSPhone comes along and refines what is wrong with the xperia play. I'm not sure what's wrong with the xperia play, I've read some good reviews, but people aren't adopting.

I love my Vita. I like what theyre doing with it content wise. I loved Uncharted and am really looking forward to the NA launch releases in a month. Gravity Rush, Raymond etc I do agree that itll struggle at first but if they do the marketing Im sure itll start to pick up momentum. Price is a big deal. Thats probably the big thing keeping people that know about the system from buying it. They just dont want to dish out 300 on a system plus 40-50 a game as well as 50-120 on a memory card. Like with the 3DS I think it may take time, and a price drop to pick up steam.

I see nothing wrong with the end of February launch point. That's when I usually get my Federal Tax return, so I will have quite a bit of disposable income. March would of been better though.

Sony has always been smart enough to have enough starter games for their systems, but the Vita doesn't seem to do anything special but add a touch screen or two. It seems like the only things the Vita can dos is play games, music, and movies. The 3DS, though missing the dual analog until March, at least has different functionality associated with it, bringing it to a higher plain than just a "handheld gaming system." The fact it has a 3D camera and camcorder, streams Netflix, has a pedometer, and can download games makes it a force to be reckoned with. I see the Vita having the same popularity the PSP has now. The big question is will the Vita be backwards compatible or are they using another format for their games?
