It's time to crown your choice for the best game of 2011, after a month of hard fought battles, it's down to Assassin's Creed: Revelations and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for all the marbles in Videogame Deathmatch.

G4, I would like to say that, well, you guys are idiots.
You pit Zelda up against two pushovers, trying to get it to lose to prove that it isn't great. Well, we won. So, as an insurance, you had us in the same bracket as Arkham City and Skyrim, thinking we couldn't possibly beat it.

You say we were angry then? Well, we sure are angry now! I thought G4 would judge fairly. Now dont get me wrong. Skyrim is amazing. I own it and I am enjoying it. But just because Skyrim has hours of gameplay with lots of sidequests means you give it Game of the Year?

In regards to the fanboy comment, What in the hell did they expect??? In all honesty, when u do a viewers choice awards, there ALL fanboys of there favorite game soo they pick that game in hopes of it winning. This is why I NEVER watch x-play anymore. I DO NOT have it recorded anymore and removed all episode from my DVR. With that being said, i don't let x-play decide my games for me.

You've shown, incredibly clearly, how strong your bias against Nintendo and Skyward Sword actually is.
You weren't even capable of disregarding your own personal opinion for the sake of professionalism when congratulating the winners.
Not only did you poorly represent Skyward via the video in the Deathmatch and in the review of the game itself, you even went so far as to insult the entire fanbase itself.
Here's a little tidbit of truth for you, boys and girls: BOTH SIDES had votes padded.
The reason most of the people voting for Zelda got pissed off, is because posters voting against it made comments almost as immature as YOURS was during this presentation.
Very few intelligent opinions. Very few actually valid reasons.
From the dissenters, and from G4 alike, there has been nothing but pure, raw hatred for Zelda ever since it stepped into the ring, and you made your stance on that clear by excusing its win as a fan-base-only victory, instead of admitting openly that the game has merits that make it worthy of this award.
Just like ALL of the games in the many rounds did, for one reason or another.
At this point, keeping the award is practically the same thing as accepting your bias as a fair judgement.
In other words, this award, thanks to your thoughtless commentary, is now little more than a thinly-veiled insult.
So.
Take it back.
Follow the calling of your immature bias, take back the award, and toss it to a different game.
Keep verbally flogging the fanbase as the sole reason for their victory here all you like.
We're going back to enjoying our game, and to accepting the awards given out by more mature gaming communities.
You are now inconsequential.

i voted well there was some bias in my vote but i definativly wouldn't vote for any game i didn't enjoy playing because SS did do it i voted for it why do you think fanoys were out for revenge i certainly wasn't nor was i enraged i didn't care i wanted it to win GOTY but i wasn't gonna go on a homocidle killing spree if it didn't. you comments were rude and had offended me as a zelda fan as wells a gamer. i do agree with some people you would've made more of a show had skyrim or some other game had won and not had said those snide comments. hell i would still have respect for you guys especially you adam sessiler to me you were the king of video game reviews when every had good cable i would watch xplay religiously i loved your comment they were funny this how ever wasn't i guess your age has left out of touch with gamers, fans, and even your brains.

Actually anger lost Adam. Everyone who was mad Skyward Sword was beating it purposely voted against it. And did you read what most of the Skyrim fans wrote in the comment section? There was clearly more anger from them than the Zelda fanbase.

((Before they even had the nominees listed, Zelda won against Uncharted 3, FIFA 12, Batman, and was in the middle of a very strong match with skyrim!!)) That was so, I mean SO immature of them!!
They could not handle it professionally, and give this one to Zelda. After 25 years of hard work, a large number of fan's, and they give them a punch in the stomach if you ask me.

I like the other games too and i was sad Zelda lost the VGA goty, but i didn't go dissing others about it's fans.
I tired really, REALLY hard to respect them in their work and their opinion's, but this was the last straw. Im done with G4.

Okay, here it is. Some of the comments on here are being a little harsh. You guys are saying that G4 hates Nintendo, when that is clearly not true. They have praised many of their games in the past, and they did nominate Super Mario 3D Land for game of the year. And don't call them butthurt, that is offensive, and it really makes people who play games look unintelligent and immature. We are fueling their fire with comments like that.
Okay, and that is all I am going to say in defense of G4. Because, like everyone else, I was disgusted with the final comments that the hosts made. I agree, they are entitled to their opinions, if they did not want to vote Skyward Sword for game of the year, that's fine, not everyone thinks it is deserving of that nomination. I also understand that they may not necessarily agree with what we viewers chose as game of the year, and that is also fine. However, they did not have to mock us in the way they did. Saying that the only reason Skyward Sword won was because of angry fanboys being upset that it wasn't nominated for Game of the Year? That is crap, and that deeply offends me as someone who has been a fan of your website and your television show since I was in Middle School. I would like to point out that I voted for Zelda over Skyrim, a game which I am more than willing to admit is fantastic and definitely deserving much praise and game of the year if you truly believe it deserves it, far before I knew that Zelda had not been nominated for game of the year. Did I expect Zelda to be nominated? Of course not, you guys gave it a 4/5. I voted for the game I believed to be the best, above all others that were released this year. Perhaps I am a little bit of a fanboy, but I don't care anymore, because you guys are equally as fanboyish, to completely insult and degrade your entire viewing community. I am not saying everyone's responses here have been justified, i.e view my first paragraph, but your utter lack of respect for the people who clearly enjoy coming to your site to vote for games, for people who have a passion for gaming and vote for something they love, is completely not justified. I used to love you, and I know that there will probably be a soapbox on this very issue, about how immature we are being, but look back at what you've said, and how easily you have offended such a large audience. So, while I know this will not be my last visit to G4, I am for now going to take everything you say with a grain of salt, and you will never be viewed as a serious website by me anymore.
I live in Canada and lately the only shows I have been watching on G4 have been reviews on the run and the Office. I tried going back to X-Play, but I found all of the reviews so cynical, that they could not help but poke fun at everything as if they were the be all end all of video game journalism. This has further pushed me away from a show I once loved. Sorry G4, this time, you messed up.

I just wanted to see their faces when they say Skyward Sword won (which I voted for) because we went against realy other good games too. I give all those games serious props but I played skyward sword and i loved it.

Okay, if I got your attention. Let me tell you a little story...so sit down little kids as I tell you guys "How G4 Is Biased"
"Once upon a time, there was a deathmatch for the best games of the year. It was a viewers choice infact. 32 Games battled to the death. Skyward Sword defeating Skyrim in the semifinals made G4 rage quit. Assassins Creed and Skyward Sword were in the finals, as they battled it out.
Oh but G4 were so mad, that they decided to do something....devious.
They attempted to make fun of Zelda as it starts to beat Assassins Creed in the finals.
They said they were the "Most trusted Website" as they rub their greedy little hands.
After 6 days of battle, Skyward Sword managed to beat the games it faced FAIR AND SQUARE!
But X-Play was not happy. They were what we call "Fanboy trolls"
They decided to make fun of the rather large fanbase. And say that they cheated out of anger for not being nominated of GOTY. They say "Anger always wins"
And now their moto is "Most Biased Website".
And that is the story how G4 are being babies.

I just don't get it. All of the games listed in the deathmatch were great games, G4 said so themselves. Why then was Zelda put down? Was it so mind-blowing that a franchise, which has for 25 years proven itself time and time again, would win? Yes it is impossible not to have a bias and that is fine. It is even understandable to say that they didn't like the game themselves. But is it really okay to state that the opinions of the viewers who constantly support you are negligible? I don't think so. It got a 4 out of 5, that is fine, 4 is a great score. I personally voted for Batman, but that does not mean Zelda didn't deserve the same recognition. You Adam, who constantly state that people should have a adult conversation about video games showed a surprising lack of maturity during your final comments. Practice what you preach buddy.
