It's time to crown your choice for the best game of 2011, after a month of hard fought battles, it's down to Assassin's Creed: Revelations and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for all the marbles in Videogame Deathmatch.

Yes you're right G4, I'm wasting my time in this site. I was expecting that you were thankfully for receiving many visits and many votes, but you are just complaining. What was disappointing about the announcement is how both of the hosts managed to act like complete and utter children while completely underplaying the game, which got very little screen time or attention.
What's disappointing is that people like this are primarily the one's with the loudest, or rather most heard, voices in the gaming community. Reviews, Game of the Year awards, it's all subjective, and everyone makes very little effort to make their rating criteria known. The nice thing about having a big voice is knowing you can drown out the one's that matters.
They acted no better than the people on this comment thread - toting around their opinions like the "most spirited" student at a high school football game against their school's rival - and /that's/ what they deserve to get discredited for.
Be professional, give credit where it's due, save your opinions and backhanded comments for editorials. Whether it was Skyward Sword or Assassin's Creed, or Skyrim or Portal 2, it was chosen for a reason, and it does /not/ need to reflect their opinion.
In short: G4, IGN, Kotaku, video game journalism in general - it's dead, meaningless, and primarily opinion driven. They think people are sheep, and they can be the voice to round them up.

I would like to know. If all you Zelda and Nintendo fans hate G4 so much y bother coming here and making a profile? All you're doing is supporting a website you believe is biased against you're system and game of choice.
And while I'm asking. How come you all kept saying(during the deathmatch), that everyone is entitled to their opinion? But when that opinion differs from yours the first thing you do is bash and neg vote their post into oblivion. Even when their not bashing your game first.

Ya know what? F ck you G4. Skyward Sword is an awesome game. So is Assassin's Creed, however the difference is that Assassin's Creed gets VERY repetative. Skyward Sword has an engenious control scheme IF YOU TAKE THE TIME TO MASTER IT (which is...half an hour...).
Skyward Sword's plot is also alot better than Assassin's Creed.
Just because you "macho" gamers don't like Nintendo, and set Skyward Sword up to lose, it doesn't mean that it only won because Nintendo fans were "enraged"

G4 apparently thinks that Zelda fans are immature and that SS votes were based on spite and biased views.
However, when you examine the comments in SS vs Skyrim, you'll notice a pattern in the comments. Skyrim fans basically devalue SS by saying it's for kids, fanboys, gays, etc. Rarely offering actual arguments as to WHY Skyrim deserves to win.
Skyward Sword voters more often than not proposed level headed arguments as to why the game was genuinely better than Skyrim.
The Ad Hominem fallacy is being applied to the wrong group of people. Besides G4 being butthurt about Skyrim not winning the polls, G4's probably trying to get Zelda fans to rage so that their ad hominem fallacy will hold up.

Me - But seriously G4, i MAY understand that the game wasnt realesed when you started the competition, but you could change the informative text (princess Zelda? not this time!) after you played the game.... you did play the game, didnt you?

Yeah definitely a low blow X-Play, but congratulations Zelda fans in our opinion Zelda will be the game of the year for 2011. And for everyone else who has favorite games for this year, you're entitled to your own opinions. So let's quit complaining about which game is better and spend the rest of our holiday season enjoying our favorite series. Happy holidays to all!

I love AOTS but now X-Play is no longer watchable. They had their opinion with Skyrim, we had ours with Skyward Sword and they had to crap all over it. I didn't even VOTE for Skyward Sword but it doesnt mean i don't say "Touche, good job guys" once they beat my Uncharted and Skyrim lost! So horrible Sessler, so horrible.

I wasn't angry that skyward sword didn't get nominated, I did think it was unfair but I wasn't really angry, it certainly deserves game of the year in my opinion.
this is a very immature reaction however, and they're obviously very biased against nintendo, or at least zelda. despite not being angry that they didn't nominate skyward sword it is very satisfying to see zelda win when they obviously didn't want it to.

Half a million of people voting and they, about for people, think of themselves as the only validate people to have true opinions of which games are good and which just have more votes because of anger??
