It seems like every year I lose some respect for G4, in this year they did not disappoint. I mean look at their list, now I know why nobody from g4 has never been accepted to be on the VGA advisory council. You can talk about Spike VGA, but at least they are unbiased enough to nominate the right games. G4 N X-Play once again, EPIC FAIL!!!!!!!

WTF? No Skyward Sword nomination? I'm not surprised actually. It became very apparent during the feedback episode involving the game where all the people present were complaining about the game and how they all wished it was OoT. Also why is Uncharted 3 not nominated? It doesn't have to win, but it should have been nominated over L.A. Noire and Saints Row The Third. Same goes for Zelda. This just further proof that the people of G4 don't know good gaming anymore. I might sound bitter and that's okay, but this is no excuse for these types of shenanigans.

i lol'd right off the bat at Gears3 nominated for GotY.
Pokemon Black deserves that spot by far.
    Hell, even WWE12 was better.

Glad to see The Witcher II got a nod. I was afraid that it would fade back into the ether. In all honesty, I'm not so sure Skyrim completely has my vote when it comes to the RPG category.

G4, you have sincerely lost any respect I had left for you... As much as I'm sure you will disagree and hold ignorant to the fact that your opinion is YOUR opinion and you don't give flying frack about how YOUR opinion affects the general gaming community that reads and investments their time into what you have to say... The games Ucharted 3 and Zelda:Skyward Sword, if ANYTHING, need to be at least given the proper respect, and AT LEAST be NOMINATED, for a game of the year award. I'm not asking you to make them game of the year, but that they need to be at least recognized for the quality body of work they are. I mean, seriously, Uncharted 3 being less than Uncharted 2... OK, that's fine... Don't you think that a game SLIGHTLY less impressive than Uncharted 2 DESERVES at least a nomination? And as for Zelda... I think it might be appropriate to throw you to the fanboys for this slight... And in other, less angry, news... I support Arkham City for game of the year! :D

    My List:

    GOTY: Arkham City
    Original Game: Minecraft
    Innovation: L.A. Noire
Multiplayer: Tie between Gears 3 and MW3
    Co-Op: Portal 2
    Sports: NBA 2K '11
Downloadable Game: inFamous FoB (Considering it's the only one I've played)
    DLC: Gears 3 'Raam's Shadow'
Shooter: Tied between Rage and Resistance 3
    RPG: Skyrim
    Fighting: Mortal Kombat
    Art Direction: Alice: Madness Returns
    Animation: Rayman Origins
    Writing: Batman Arkham City
    Soundtrack: Skyrim
    Sound Design: Dead Space 2
Action/Adventure: Tied between Uncharted 3 and Batman
    Racing: Motorstorm Apocalyse
    Motion Control: Zelda Skyward Sword
    Handheld: Pokemon Black and White
Puzzle: Tied between Portal 2 and Catherine
Nolan North: Nathan Drake from 'Uncharted 3'
Non-Nolan North: Mark Hamil as the Joker
Remake: Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D
    Possible Golden Mullet: Golden Crusade

    My GOTY Comments:

Decent list, but not your best. Saint's Row 3 was fun, but didn't exactly scream GOTY for me. L.A. Noire was interesting, but there wasn't as much combat as expected. It's different for Rockstar (In a good way). Super Mario 3D Land, I've yet to play, but seems not as good as other titles that should be on the list. Such as Uncharted 3, Zelda, and/or Resistance 3. Arkham City, Skyrim, Portal 2, and Gears 3 were clearly great choices. Just wish I saw more of Uncharted 3, inFamous 2, Zelda, and Resistance 3 for the categories.

Excellent choices of nominees. Should be a good award show! I'm a little shocked that The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword wasn't nominated for Game of the Year, but on the other hand, neither did Uncharted 3... those two being excluded from that category should make X-Play's awards be different than most others... I imagine both of those games will be nominees in most other awards. (I should note that I'm not complaining... this is all about the employees of X-Play and their opinions... not mine or yours, so they did exactly what they should have. If they would have included Zelda and Uncharted just because they thought that is what people wanted, then that would have been wrong. This isn't The Peoples Choice Awards. It's the X-Play Awards).

You really should have included that trailer for that MMO WildStar

For some reason this concludes my strange theory G4 is trying to sabotage Skyward Sword from winning the Death Match... It started when they begun the Death match before the game was even out...

Best motion control is by far Medieval Moves Deadmund's Quest. And it's not even on the list! most motion control games are not good, but this is actually a solid move title, with fun and hecktic gameplay.

L.A. Noire was an innovative, interesting failure, IMO. A bit like the first Assassin's Creed.

No assassins creed for soundtrack of the year??? Jesper Kyd has done three amazing soundtracks for the series and none have them have even gotten a nod. *sigh*

No Uncharted 3 or Skyward Sword? Are you kidding me? And super mario 3D land for the DS is nominated (even though it was a good game...nothing against it...it should nominated for best handheld game) but still? Two of the most important games of 2011 and they're not even on the list?

Do you love SKYWARD SWORD? If so, then what possible difference does it make if someone or a group of people disagree with you? Who cares? So play and be happy.

As much as I love LA Noire. Uncharted 3 or Zelda should have that spot.
But for what they have. I'm torn between Portal 2 and Gears 3.

I'm just excited about Batman on here. That was my 100% favorite game this year. ( I still lift the finger to the riddler's trophies)
