Casey, I was offended by your challenge of "Your first mmo experience". As a person who plays mmos for over a decade, I was hurt by the assumption that we had a box to open, ravel, and hail when our parents/brothers/friends and/or our money got us. FYI, many mmos are online, free to play such as Runescape. While they might not be on par with game such as Evercrack and WoW, they still do have players.
This brings me to my threat- you got 3 months Casey. In 3 months, I will defile your schrein of masculinity with my one-year diablobeard, and put you to shame!

I started off on Everquest. I was in my early teens, had never seen a game like this and somehow convinced my dad to pay the monthly, we also had great internet and a pretty solid computer because he worked in IT. I think he was living through my gaming vicariously.
I started off in some forest local I can't name now and wandered around until I found a wide open plane was awestruck by the sky and set off to find the ends of the world. That was my stated goal, to find the edge of everything. I found a giant walled city and decided that would be roughly in the middle (it made sense to me at the time) and ventured away from it. Some how I hadn't run into much of anything yet that wanted to fight me. Some guy ran by and buffed me with what to me seemed like crazy high level spells of awesome and I began to feel invincible so when I came upon a monster much higher level I though what the hell, and stabbed it. I was dinner almost immediately there after.
I thought to myself, well I died. Time to try a new character I guess. Off I went to make some Nordic warrior type. I honestly believed that character was dead forever and that the game was just starting a new character of the same time for me when I respawned.

Personally, I'm hoping we'll see something next week about the World of Warcraft "professional e-sports teams" using an exploit to gear up faster, then bragging about it on their websites and using the excuse "well, everyone else was doing it, so it's ok if we do too" and "it's Blizzard's fault for the bug being in the game". As "professionals" who knowingly cheat, how do they have sponsors?!?

Ahhh, back to the show as it should be. Please, special reports on the scene at things like Blizzcon are fine, but no more 15 minutes ads for specific games. Just stick with the news. It's what we want. That, and the beard. WHO KNOWS WHAT IT'LL DO NEXT WEEK!
