Black Friday is just around the corner, so Chris Hardwick joins Kevin Pereira to see if two televisions are worth the holiday savings. They review the 46" Westinghouse LCD TV from Target and the 50" Zenith plasma from Sears.
The Westinghouse 46" LCD
The design of this TV is pretty standard and the bezel is a little big.
The build quality isnt' quite what we are used to.
But it's 1080P for a mere $299!
The refresh rate is 60Hz, which is not something the average viewer will notice.
We watched Jursassic Park on Blu-ray on this TV and it was pretty great.
If we had one complaint, it would be that the blacks weren't as deep as we would have liked.
This Westinghouse TV only has 2HDMI ports and 1 component port, so beware of that.
$299.00 at Target with a savings of nearly 50%.
It's a good deal but it's 46" for $300.
Target is opening at midnight on Black Friday so you can stay up late to buy it.
The Zenith 50" Plasma Television
This TV has deep blacks.
The design is a bit more modern than the Westinghouse.
The bezel on this is smaller.
The TV is also 1080P and weighs a whopping 60 lbs so be careful when wall mounting.
The picture was good with vivid colors.
We did run into problems with the glare.
We watched Jurassic Park on Blu-ray and the picture was noticeably better.
This TV has more ports with 3 HDMI.
$499 at Sears, starting at 4:00 AM on Black Friday.
This is an excellent value for the money but you do have to be at the store at 4:00AM.
The build quality is a little better than the Westinghouse.
