I wasn't happy when Riot took denying creeps out of the equation but even needing to last hit just takes so much of the skill aspect out of this game. Being able to sustain a lane without taking too much damage from enemy champs while out-farming them is one of the most important aspects of these games...

Maybe we can get all the nubs to switch over to this and quit trolling LoL....

I really love Blizzard games but I really expect this game to fail. Valve's Dota 2 is awesome and HoN and LoL are really doing good jobs with the help of 3 of it's original creators: Eul, Guinsoo and Icefrog. Blizzard is just trying get the bus later and make some money... they never really cared for the game until someone told them they should make money with it.

Also, they are NOW (years later) fighting over the "dota" name with valve, which is pointless since they never really created it and never really helped to improve the original dota the way they could.

Really Blizzard? Just release Diablo III and leave the dota community alone...

All of the hardcore dota / hon players are going to hate of course, but they are doing the exact same thing they did with WoW. WoW did not really innovate at all, they took the Everquest formula and just started axing everything that frustrated the non-hardcore gamer away from the game (exp death penalties, exp grinding /w no quests, long down times, etc).

They are doing the exact same thing here... axing all of the things to make it fun for anyone to play, and they will be wildly succesful despite what all the hardcore dota try hards think.

That being said, a way for players to reconnect to a game and methods for punishing players are an absolute must, or this game will be an epic fail of ruined games due to trolls. A dota style game absolutely needs this, as starting a match is a significate time investment, and it only takes one person to ruin the entire match.

They dare call this dota. There is no way this'll be as competitive as the current MOBA games. Even LoL appears more competitive than this.

Gotta love Leah, unapologetic Blizzard fan girl...
and who can blame her, they make the best games.

While Blizzdota may not let me pwn newbs as a
giant crocodile, Arthas looks pretty damn sweet.

This sounds absolutely dreadful. I'm too tired to discuss all 10 of then things in great detail and how they completely ruin the resolve and interest of any dedicated DoTA player, but, suffice to say, I'll be playing Valve's DoTA. Blizzard, you've destroyed another game, feeding it to the casuals.

this sounds like it still needs a lot of work. definately sounds fun tho. really like the idea of having mounts, but really dislike the tower ammunition.

You'll need to have StarCraft 2 in order to play it, because it is a MOD for the game, not a full-fledged stand-alone game like LoL is.

But it doesn't really matter, because paying to access it is the only payment you have to make, which that alone will attract many players.

just thinking about it, what they might do, is either require you to buy it, or require you to already have a game on your blizzard account(WoW, Sc2, D3) an d you can play for free, and just make peopel pay for skins, and champs

if this game costs money its a waste of time to make any further.. LoL already dominates the moba market without costing anything, and its an amazing game, with perfect mechanics (ad, ap, etc...) ill try it out if its free.. but knowing blizzard, it wont be

"No more last hitting." This is very good news.

I enjoy the occasional MOBA. However, I am not able to invest any significant amount of time to it to really gasp every mechanic. Because of this, I often find myself in long drawn out games that last over an hour where I am overwhelmed with all the different battle techniques needed to succeed, all the items, all the unique heroes, etc. All this is fine, this allows the game to be rewarding to those who do invest the time in it; that's what a game should do.

Now it seems Blizzard DOTA will be great for someone like me who likes the MOBA gameplay, but doesn't have enough time to practice or just play hour long games and remember every item. All while not completely stripping away every competitive aspect. I'm glad to see someone actually putting effort into an attempt at evolving this game genre, rather than copy-pasting the original DOTA for fear of scaring off the fans.

Before BlizzCon 2011, a lot of people were saying that Blizzard DOTA won't come close to LoL, HoN, DOTA 2, or indeed any other DOTA style game. At the time I was inclined to agree with them.

But After having watch the related BlizzCon panels this year, I can say that I'm a believer. I'm especially loving all the changes to make the oh so special "DOTA Rage" non-existant.

Another thing to look at is, so far, they're not going the microtransaction route with Blizzard DOTA (and I sort of wonder if it'd be even possible as well). Which will attract a lot of people who would want access to ALL of the heros and be able to customise them, something you can't do in LoL without paying up. The only payment people will make is the initial amount to buy StarCraft 2, and nothing else. On top of that not only will they get what looks to be a great DOTA game, but much much more with the base StarCraft 2 game, and quite a few wonderful maps already out there.

It'll be interesting to see how the other DOTA companies react to this.
