I've played 15 hours of BF3 multi-player and not once have I touched the campaign and I'm not sure if i'll ever touch it.
I just wanted to say I absolutely loved the last Sessler's Soapbox so know that you're awesome for it! I haven't always agreed with you but if that was your speech for election you would have my vote. It even inspired a blog post to promote the idea even more. http://johnmusim.wordpress.com /2011/10/28/stereotyping-is-no t-the-answer/
i find it funny that the people even play the campaign for battlefield, the multiplayer is so epic and awesome it's not even worth the time, the sad thing is i feel like if they didn't have the campaign and it was just multiplayer then it would have recieved a 5 out of 5 but this is just my opinion and like many others it doesn't matter at all
I thought i would rent the game and try it out before i bought it. Turns out that unless you have a new copy you have to pay $10 for an "online pass." I am not sure what they were trying to do with this. Only reason I can come up with is to get more money. Doesn't matter. I'm not paying 10$ on top of rental fee to try the multiplayer; therefore, I will not be buying the game. Also campaign isn't very interesting and the whole interrogation/flashback thing reminds me too much of black ops.
Good soap box Adam. I for one don't think that Battlefield suffers from being boring in itself, I think its just the FPS genre in general. The industry is seriously lacking innovation in this department. I don't know why companies don't concentrate on finding new ways to tell a story, to develop character, and to squeeze out substance from these single player FPS's. I'm not saying it has to turn it into an Action RPG, but their attempts at telling stories are horrible, and their characters are all bland an un-relatable.The reason I personally enjoyed Battleifeld 3 vs MW2 and Black Ops is because of the sound design. I think all of the missions seemed much more visceral and vivid because of the realistic voice chatter, bullet ricochets and explosions. The mechanics were solid, so I couldn't complain with the gameplay. All I know, is with my bad ass soundcard, and 200 headphones jacked to maximum volume, I sank into that game and didn't realize I was still in my basement.
I don't like the campaign, I actually stopped playing it & moved on to multiplayer, which is phenomenal. It's the best multiplayer experience I've had. It's a game geared for teamwork and tactical decisions, unless you want to play the TDM, which I don't. The maps are very spacious & chock full o' detail, & some are absolutely huge. In my opinion, this game is just as much a simulation as anything else, & will please people who want to take a break from the arcade-like run&gun ninja madness of COD.
I am getting so bored with the shooters they are starting to blend together. Why havn't companies upped thier game
I'm loving Battlefield 3 but I can't say I disagree about the campaign.
idk. having only ever player BC2, i just cant get used to prone. i tried and tried in the Beta, but it just wasnt for me. so im gunna skip this game, or at the most get it a couple of months before BC3, just cause itll be cheap.also. i wish the Soapboxes were longer. like 10 minutes long or something!
No one buys Battlefield for single player. The online multiplayer is second to none
Favela fun and interesting? I sat there for 20 minutes shooting the infinitely spawning bad guys on the roof just to see how many many I could shoot in the head before I ran out of ammo. Guess what? I ran out of ammo. That level was trash because the only way for IW and Treyarch to create difficulty or challenge is by using the old "clown car" effect present in every CoD. Even on Veteran, Favela was neither fun, nor exciting. Also, Adam had to have know BF3 was a more serious take on Modern Warfare. He said the E3 demo was pretty but boring, so why would he expect nukes, zip lines, rc cars, and high speed boat chases for the full release?Lastly, the number of Sessler butt kissers here is astounding. It's ok to disagree with the guy every now and then. Hop off his sack for a moment and you'll come to appreciate the wonderful world of having your own opinions. Team Sessler....far worse than the sheep that hang on every word spewed from Jim Sterling's mouth. At least the latter knows it's an act.
I think you need a much needed vacation Mr. Sessler. After last week's soapbox, you're looking a little worn down and stressed out. Take a few days off and relax, you'll thank yourself for it later.
OK first the story line was fun as hell second it looked like rely people and third it was not cod so thats a plus bur rely Adam not adrenaline pumping com on. we all now you will praise cod like its you chilled because if you do not then you wont get all that nice free stuff and event tickets they give you so you can go suck up to cod 4 out 5 for BF3 and we all now you will give MW3 a 5 out 5 i just like to say WOW.
I COMPLETELY agree with you Adam. EA dug their own hole with their marketing campaign intensely focused on competition against Activision. So no matter what they did, their game BECAUSE OF THEM would be undoubtedly compared to the Call of Duty series. Like most of you, i appreciate fresh ideas and new experiences but that doesn't mean i support unrefined ones. Dice could have used the Bad Company template and included open and destructible environments in their campaign, but for some reason they CHOSE not to!!!! I would have had no problem if they made this title multiplayer-only and cut the price in half. I would have bought it on day 1. But instead, they decided to include a lackluster campaign that tarnishes the whole package. The review scores aren't terrible but for a triple A game like this coupled with the tremendous amount of hype make this a pretty big disappointment for me. Try again next year.
3:24 wiggle your mouse bro.
Kudos to Adam for playing BF3 where it should be played, on PC.
IF call of duty gets a 5 out of 5 for the same crap the put out each year i quit this site. Adam has bashed game after game about not changing enough and felling like a expansion or a rehash of the same old gameplay. IF cod gets a pass for its same crappy multiplayer each year with no other reason to upgrade but activisions greed im done with adam he's full of it.
The writing was terrible. And if the writing is terrible, you aren't going to care."In...12 days....Solomon will attack...your trains...""DAMMIT! HE'S NOT MAKING ANY SENSE!!"And you want to get my pulse jumping from that? Come on.
thanks for the info on BF3 there sess. i'll rent instead of buy now. as for the flack youre getting for UC3 just know that i appreciate your review alot. my expectations were way to high in the first place and now im enjoying the hell outta single player without getting upset that its not as good as 2. and youre right, its not as good as 2. and im OK with that.
Very happy that Adam grabbed a nice gaming pc. Brings a wider perspective than just the console experience reviews.I also love his insight and he better not be going anywhere cause that will be the last time I will be checking out G4TV.
