There were a few times in the single player campaign of Battlefield 3 that I enjoyed, unfortunately I just could not get into the story. But the multiplayer aspect of the game is where the fun is at.
Completely agree, I finished the campaign and thought it was really boring, Though i admit I hate the lack of innovation that the CoD franchise has had for the last 5 years (or 6?), i can't shake the feeling that i had more fun playing MW2 than i ever did playing the BF3 campaign. That being said, kudos to Dice for at least trying something different.
Finally someone who agrees with me on how terrible the campaign was i was bored out of my mind no characters connected w/ me the story was a boring rip off of other games *cough* Call of Duty *cough* and the interview sequences sucked hard.
Adam I think you may be onto something there. Maybe you and the nerds at Xplay should do an experiment. Get a heart monitor or vitality sensor (haha) and hook it up to yourself. Then play both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 1 or 2. Both on the same console or PC. And both games single player campaign. Then have an intern record your pulse at different points in the games. Maybe you can scientificly prove that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 or 2, is more exciting than Battlefield 3. I certainly think so.
I hate how adam from the start has called battlefield pretty but boring. Play the multiplayer adam. Very, very far from boring...
I'm really tired of the realistic FPS like Battlefield 3. War is hell. EA is the devil's reject for imitating Activision and their MW crap.. Like Guitar Hero vs. Rockband but so much more ridiculousl.
I hadn't really bothered reading up on Battlefield 3 as I figured it was just going to be a multiplayer game like the ones that came before it (it never even occurred to me that it would have a single player campaign). I always figured if EA wanted to do any single player war campaigns they would do those in the Bad Company and Medal of Honor games, while leaving Battlefield alone as a pure multiplayer game. So I'm not that surprised that the single player mode is lacking...
I'm really tired of the realistic First Person Shooters. War is hell. Ea is the devil's reject.
That Uncharted Review like most of Adam's reviews was really well written. I sincerely doubt that more than a handful of the people who got nerd rage over it really read the review after they saw it didn't get a 5 out of 5. That said I do like having a score simply as a means of quickly assessing the general opinions of multiple reviewers. In this case the 4 out of 5 encouraged me to read Adam's review in its entirety simply because I wanted to see why his opinion diverged from that of the establishment.PS: Sorry you had to endure yet another round of internet rage Adam. I'm sure you're pretty desensitized to it at this point; but I can't imagine getting insulted hundreds of times over ever loses all its sting.
I don't know how you do it, Adam... trying to convey logic and common sense to "TeH internets" must be incredibly exhausting. Don't ever stop though; I actually respect honesty.I had a hunch from the day it was shown at E3 that BF3's approach was going to be a small mark against it... too realistic for its own good. We can chalk this game's campaign up as an experiment with mixed results. Someone had to portray a military shooter that wasn't a Michael Bay movie after all, regardless of their ego, or the results.
"Beautiful but boring" Funny, that's my opinion on the Fable series. Though, it's not as beautiful as Battllefield 3 or other RPGs out there and I would add simplified as well."Can a beautiful, incredibly designed game rest on its multiplayer alone?"Before Bad Company series, Battlefield has always been multiplayer. The single player consists of yourself playing with bots and if I remember correctly, they were very good. But really who plays Battlefield games for that?
what do you want in a military shooter? do you want realism, something along the lines of what is going on overseas right now? or do you want an action movie, pretty much COD which you described on feedback as a giant penis. i agree that there wasn't that one level from BF3 that you will remember forever (like the sniping mission from COD4) but the storyline kept me engaged, and playing it on a harder difficulty makes it much more exciting. i think that single player shooters as we know them are on their way out. they are too predictable and they are the same thing every time, unlike multiplayer where you are put up against real people who can reason and plan the same way that you do. that's why i never play FIFA against the CPU anymore, it's just too bland
I'm a huge gamer but sometime people have to stop and realize that it's just a game... Ones thoughts on a game can't determine there personality or character. It's just there thoughts on a game. it shows, only, there preferences in games.... This cannot determine the persons race, sexuality, age, gender, weight, high, income, or relationship status.
Adam do you play with a mouse and key on PC or do you go with the xbox controller??just asking...
Adam you don't need to care about those people. You are a god in my eyes, and you made a great point that i wish people would take to heart. games are art and you can't rate art.
Yeah, they should have focused their efforts on polishing the multiplayer and less time trying to out do CoD singleplayer. I've never purchased a battlefield game for the singleplayer anyway. In fact, I've never even played BC2 singleplayer at all, but I logged 200+ hours on the multiplayer. I'll probably end up doing the same with BF3.So yeah, doesn't really come as a shock that the singleplayer isn't that exciting. On-rail shooters never really peaked my interest anyway.BTW, glad to hear that you're playing MP on the PC...the game really does shine on a decent rig.
Can I get the game for half price by just buying and downloading the multiplayer only? No? Well, it'd be nice.
No worries Adam. Only one more year till all the haters burn in the fires of 2012. Atleast i hope so. Anyway, Honestly i agree with you on everything, but i didn't get the game for the single player, so its not that big of a deal to me. We the sane and open minded still have your back Adam....Hmmm...your in trouble. Ha
