An unexpected nuke detonating in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, the death of Aeris in Final Fantasy VII - both made our list of the most shocking moments in games. Morgan Webb runs down part one.

God of war 3 should totally be on here. The entire game has insane plot twists that all added up to a completely jaw dropping ending. I literally stared at my TV screen for 5 mins without moving

i think a huge one is lucien lachances death in tes4 that was pretty gruesome. definately a shocker too.

There is a moment in Gears of War 3 that is very very shocking. It is too soon to put into a list like this but OMG is it shocking.

I think when you shoot yourself in the face because your girlfriend was murdered in front of you in The Darkness was my most shocking scene.

in my opinion the call of duty one was the best when first played that part was pissed and amazed at the same time the gears 2 one the entire time i kinda saw it coming it was still pretty messed up and good story but saw it coming ive never played final fantasy 7 but that part ive seen 1st hand while a friend was playing pretty powerful writing if i had played it it would probably hit me more id love to play it but dont have a way to right now

I think one of the biggest shocks was in KotoR when you discover that you are in fact Darth Riven. That was definitely one of the better plot twists I've seen in games.

i cant believe the end of metal gear solid 3 isn't on here. i have never not wanted to do what i had to do... ever, in a game before. if that makes sense :p

What about in the Original Mass Effect, when after chasing down Saren across several star systems, you realize that he is a pawn and the real threat is an enemy revealed at that moment in gameplay. makes me feel sorry for Saren. Turian Bastard.

i laugh so hard at that FF7 clip, especially when i played the game.
i got 100s of people begging me to try it and i get to that point and its just stupid. the guy falls 500 feet out of nowhere with his sword in this girl. just totally facepalm moment. (i had played the PSP FF7 first so i knew the story in order as well)
Ill admit the KotOR one got me.
BioShock was a good game but you
could tell that guy was leading you on.

What about in MGS3 at the end when you find out the boss was a good guy all along, and EVA was actualy a chinese spy, the soviet union didn't get the real location of the treasure thinG(I forgot the name), and most of all...Ocelot was ADAM the second amarican spy. DUN DUN DUNNNNNNNNNNN
