i feel like the kinect has such opportunity for real games but they decide to stick with the "family games" for it. why not use a controller, for instance, a gun like the sharpshooter for the ps3, and make it for 360 fps games.. have a joystick on your right thumb to look around as well as one on the left thumb for moving. if you could make this for the kinect it would be wayyy better then the sharpshooter, and they could make more money

Coming from Xplay, this point of view means nothing...

A few points.
1. V_Trans is right. As an extra button Kinects can be pretty cool.
2. Think of Kinect as being like when we had the first controllers. Research, better technology, and time will bring better control and options.
3. Movie games like Night Trap were bad, yes. But look at movie games today, aka Metal Gear Solid 4, Uncharted 2, Final Fantasy 13. Yes those are movie games. People get excited over the cut-scenes, yes The Movies! These games offer what Night Trap and other gamaes of that era were trying to deliver. Remember Dragons Lair? Ya it was the next evolution of the "movie game".
So look at Kinects and remember that this could be the beginning of what the future might bring.
Other than that I agree that it needs better games and a better experience. Other than Dance Central there is nothing too great it has to offer. Right now MS just manufactured a new peripheral for Hamonix.

Where is all of this coming from, the Kinect has it's own vibe to it. I live in California and know over 30 people who absolutely love their Kinects, and I DO have a 6 year old, and a 5 year old, and a 3 year old and they all love playing on it, and I like when they go to sleep and I can play some Rise of Nightmares...give it a chance, jeez....a bunch of haters.

Only if we can have virtual sex like in The Lawnmower Man.

My kids love the dance games Kinect Adventures was fun and kinectimals IS cute but that's about it. Other than the microphone it gets no use. They need a better quality camera. What is that VGA? I see games using it as an extra option to voice control selection menus. Make it work as a remote control for my cable box and that'd be cool.

I can only see it being used as a substitution for more buttons. Need to be able to map something more? Now you can just make an on-screen button (or w/e) and just have people point at it or whatever. Otherwise I don't see it replacing traditional controllers in any real way any more than gun peripherals did.
