Namco Bandai have released their new Tokyo Game Show 2011 gameplay trailer for Soul Calibur 5 featuring new characters and intense battles that will determine the fate of destiny.

i'll save judgement til I have the game in my hands...I agree the series needs something new....either that or take it back to SC for dreamcast...that was a great game

The only good SC game was the one for the Dreamcast!! All the others are just poor quality ports... They may look "prettier", but aren't as fun!

Namco has said that they were really revamping every character so to those who are saying it's more of the same game you should probably wait until it actually comes out.

My reaction:

"Ohey, they brought back Cassand-wait, who the heck is that?"

They really DID just bring back old characters, swipe around a few facial features, give them a new hairdo and call them a "new character". And that disappoints me greatly.

This game has not changed much since Soul Caliber 2. This new game seems like more of the same. And worse it looks like they took a few of the old fighters and changed their names and genders and calling them new. Namco needs to take the game in a new direction.

Looks pretty good, possibly the best SC game since SCII. 3 sucked, and 4 was just ok.
