Oh and also, both System Shock games and the first Starcraft. Seriously, you guys need someone who played games in the 1990s, contact me.

No mention of Thief: The Dark Project, Quake, Goldeneye, Metal Gear Sold and Everquest which was the main MMO before WoW? You guys got to get more gamers that didn't start gaming when the N64 was out.

How is there no mention of a MMO? Either Ultima online or the original Everquest?

How the heck is Metal Gear Solid not on here? Let me tell you all the fantastic innovations this game has that's STILL ahead of its time.
1. There was full voice acting, which not many PS games can claim.
2. Fooling the guard with ketchup? Steal camouflage ninja? Letting wolves pee on your cardboard box to cross safely? Changing the key card shape by going to a room that's hot, one that's cold, and one at room temperature? Seeing infrared lasers with cigarette smoke? Your rations getting frozen from staying in a freezer too long? These, and maybe a couple of other little things like that, are what make a game truly unforgettable and immersive. Truly unique features I've yet to find in any other game series.
3. The bosses were all epic and unique and had different methods of killing them. First Ocelot, you had to be careful not to blow the place up.
Second, Raven in the tank, you had to throw grenades into the hatch to do damage!
Third Psycho mantis, the most mind blowing of all. Switch the controller port?! Holy s-!
Fourth Sniper Wolf, who doesn't love sniping battles? Also taking a tranquilizer to stabilize your shot is so realistic!
The Hind D helicopter fight was also challenging and I love repelling down the wall afterwards.
Sixth, fighting Raven in the basement was amazing! It's really cool to utilize the remote control guided missiles and claymores to win this fight.
Finally, Metal Gear and Liquid himself. That was a tough fight, but it's satisfying to take down a giant mecha, then punch your brother to death.
3. It had the option of 2 different endings. You can survive the torture, letting Meryl survive, or you can give up and Otacon's with you at the end.
4. The gameplay was also the first of its kind, allowing you to sneak through most of the game if you were skilled enough to avoid the guards.
5. The storyline and characters are unique and deep as well. The nanomachine and clone technology is awesome, and you're a soldier who is sent to stop a nuclear war. Otacon was like putting many gamers into the game itself as a sidekick! And I love how it breaks the 4th wall from time to time. Also, I don't know about you, but Kojima made me feel bad for the bad guys for once! Throw in a conspiracy, betrayal, a little romance, and of course action, and you've got yourself a game that has something in it for everyone.

Did you see the part 2 in the title?

Zelda isn't #1?? Well I guess they had to give it to another game for while, since it graces every best game ever list. Maybe they got tired of it being the best.
