Anyone whose played the original starcraft already knew this about starcraft 2. The real trick is to defend your expanding base.

I do agree ... this is a bit late. here are some of advice. You can over "harvest" (build too many harvesting units) and still be within the 3 harvesting units per node rule. I have lost matches where I have more money than the enemy.

How do you solve this? Spend it and assume the other person is about to attack! If you dont have a defense (or offense) by about 4 minutes into the game. Assume your enemy is comming hard! (Even if you scouted.)

Starcraft (1 and 2) is all about time. People who can manage their time the best can often have a higher chance to win. That is why hotkeys are important. If you use your mouse to select all your units and then click where you need to go (or attack) take smuch longer than if you simply click a button (the button that is assigned to your attacking force - probably 1, 2, or 3 for most attacks).

This is potentially deceptive... You can't continuously make drones as zerg... all units come from the same source; you need to be able to balance larvae between workers and attacking units.
