Samsung's Droid Charge smartphone offers both 4G connectivity and a super slim design. Thrown in a 4.3" super AMOLED screen, dual cameras and a $180 price, the Charge could be the top choice. Chris Hardwick and Kevin Pereira review the phone for its official rating.
What You Need to Know
- The Droid Charge feels about the same as the other Android phones we've had on this week, which is pretty light and thin, but it might feel kind of cheap
- This phone works a lot like yesterday's Samsung Infuse, because it's also made by Samsung
- It's the same version of Android 2.2
- It has most of the same preinstalled apps. Including their new Samsung Media Hub, which has a very iTunes-like selection of movies and TV shows to rent or buy
- There are some notable differences; the Infuse was AT&T and this one is on Verizon
- This phone has hardware buttons for navigation and yesterday's phone had a 1.2 GHz processor
- This one is slightly less powerful at 1 GHz but handles processor intensive games pretty well
- The cameras on the phone is pretty good
- Pictures were well exposed and colors were nicely saturated; we did have some soft focus issues in low light and The LED flash is bright, but not very flattering
- The screen has the same bright super AMOLED screen, though this one is a hair smaller at 4.3”
- We used the speed test app and clocked some blazing fast download speeds; it averaged around 15 mbps, but we saw speeds as high as 32 mbps
- I recommend you check that there is good 4G LTE coverage in your area before you sign up
Price
- $180 with a contract on Amazon Wireless
Overall Rating
- 4 Seals of Approval Out of 5 (How do we rate gadgets?)
- The Droid Charge isn't the fastest Android phone on the market, but it's well-designed and the 4G service is outstanding

Unlucki
I live about 10 minutes away from Holiday, FL. It is a crap city. Seriously. The whole county it's in is pretty lame. More elderly people and rednecks than any other county in Florida.

The Samsung Infuse 4G is 1.2 GHz processor, but The Samsung Droid Charge has only 1.2 GHz. Is this difference noticeable when running several apps simultaneously?
