Dead Island Gameplay Walkthrough

This first part I wrote about a week ago but never posted:

"So Dead Island. It's basically a cross between Dead Rising 2 and Left 4 Dead 2. I haven't been able to find any game play but I've heard about how you combine objects to make new weapons (which according to a Developer are not "Whacky, just deadly and effective.") although I swore I read something about combining a machete and a battery to create an electric knife (which I also believe I've seen a picture of). "

Then I stopped writing because I got distracted. So now I've seen the game play and as it is not the final product I'm not going to comment on graphics, glitches, or other logistics of the game. It simply looks like a cross between Dead Rising 2 and L4D2. Now I'm not into monsters. I think Resident Evil is a good movie until the Necromosis or whatever the giant black oil bunny that chases them in the tunnels is shows up. I find the idea of a realistic story and setting more frightening then a giant shirtless man with a triangular helmut on his head for a face.

So needless to say I've been wanting a REAL Zombie game (and movie, Which 28 Days later is very close) and I kind of thought this was going to be it. L4D is fun to play but at the end of the day you still have Boomers, Tanks and whatnot. Dead Rising is also fun but again isn't all that realistic. I kind of hoped this would be it. But then as I stated in that earlier piece I saw a Machete with ' visible waves of electricity' sparking in how man's hand and now with the game play have seen a zombie get hit with that weapon and they did the classical (and lame) Comedy bit of standing still, making jammered noise and losing health while visible streams of electricity flow around his body.

I know it's going to sound very snooty/snobish of me but that kind of stuff is going to make me lose all sense of 'suspended reality' and I might as well be playing L4D. Even with the larger Zombie in the Straight Jacket running at me I can maybe trick myself into pretending that it just so happens to be a giant zombie who was in a straight jacket. But if I use weapons that are "Whacky" and cause "Whacky" animations as above then it's hard for me to not think of it as another L4D: Tropical Paradis3 game. (See what I did there)

I mean hey maybe I'm a very few minority that wants to lose myself in a Zombie Video game. Please click Reply and let me know if you want that or if you rather have the whackyness mixed in.
