I find a Franchise to be something thats a House hold name...now with that in mind, which one is the winner?

"Leah Jackson the only people who play Starcraft are neck beards and nerds. Respond."

I personally love how when someone says why starcraft is better, they get more negative feedback than zelda comments which proves, yeah there are more zelda fans. Starcraft fan are locked in their rooms/basements playing in the dark

Zelda is the most overrated franchise in gaming history. Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past are good, but everything after these two are just rehashed mediocrity that sells because of Nintendo marketing and nostalgia.

Nikole mentioned about upgrading to play Starcraft II and the time commitment in play the game. First of all, SCII system requirements isn't that high. The minimum requirements is not even higher than the original Crysis and that's out in 2007. I can tell Nikole is not into PC gaming when she threw the have to upgrade everything because it's PC game argument. Seeing as developers nowadays (with the exception of DICE with Battlefield 3) aren't making games that pushes the PC's capabilities to the limit like back then with Crysis 1, so the whole needing to upgrade your PC every 1-2 years is nonsense, especially if one knows how to build their own PC or know where to buy a good rig at a decent price. Second, what's wrong learning to play the game? Are gamers dumber nowadays that they need to have their hand held throughout the game and not learning it themselves? It's probably why more games are being so streamlined to the point that developers must think today's gamers are drooling idiots.
Leah, you made some good points, but more emphasis on how great the single-player on SCII is as well. Most RTS you couldn't care less with the single-player campaign but that's the opposite with SCII.

zelda has had much more then 17 games, i don't know where you're getting that number from.....
and lots of popular games can be played competitively. The difference is what aspect of the game is what you have to be good at. Shooters for example require accuracy, awareness, strategy, ect. Chess Is all strategy... Starcraft is almost all actions per minute, or basically its a contest to see who can click their mouse the fastest in an extrended period of time.

Yeaaah I just fell in love hahaha. Nikole you rock!
Moeez
At least Nikole had decent arguments, Leah Jackson kept on falling back to the popularity thing. Not a good defence on her part, since I'm sure there is more to Starcraft.
Why am I even taking this seriously? Doesn't look like they are.

LoL! Nikole came prepared.
U MAD, Leah? XD
How can you even call StarCraft a franchise? (expansions excluded)
StarCraft only has the TWO main installments & those action figures/collector's figurines.
LoZ has MULTIPLE titles in it's series, is cross-platform (console & handheld), and is also represented in other titles (e.g. Super Smash Bros., Soul Calibur 2). And thats on top of the MANY merchandise items it has (compared to SC's), which is half of what defines a franchise.
[Successive installments in a series + merchandise = franchise]
And StarCraft may have many competitive pro players, but the fact that its part of competitive eSports just makes it that much less accessible to the general public (like you said, it requires religious, daily practice); its still relatively obscure when placed beside LoZ, which is more accessible, and commonly known & played worldwide.
LoZ is the better franchise

Hm. Nikole's personality really is coming out on these web shorts, really contrasts to feedback. Leah, I'll just give her a little more time...

think nicole has a boyfriend?...?

since portal 2 can connect PSN users to Steam do you think that Valve might do it for other games like Team Fortress 2 or release other co-op/multiplayer games like Left 4 Dead

Reasons why Starcraft stomps all over Zelda:
1. Its actually a game that is played competively in tournaments and very balanced.
2. Both Starcraft games are classics allready. I can remember some baaad zelda games(someone say cd-i)
3. Do ppl bother with sponsoring good zelda players cause they think its actually worth their money? Oh wait thats Starcraft players,
4. Do ppl stream Zelda Games daily because its fun to watch...oh wait..watching ppl play Zelda is actually boring and Starcraft is very exciting to watch hence more then 50.000 ppl watched the TSL(a big starcraft 2 tournament). Yes ppl..thats actually bigger then most of our football stadiums.
I can go on and on. But you get the point now
