Gadget Pr0n goes green with these environmentally friendly tech devices that will run on renewable energy sources or help you conserve more, like the Bedol water powered alarm clock, the Kill-a-Watt EZ to measure how much energy your appliances use and more.

Bedol Water-Powered Clock

  • All you do is pour water into the back, and voila, you've got a working clock
  • You only have to add water every 3 to 6 months
  • Be careful you don't fill it too high, or it'll leak while it's running
  • It even has an alarm
  • You can put it anywhere?
  • They range from $16 to $35, so we think they're a pretty good value, especially since they don't affect your energy bill

Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor

  • You just plug it in to the wall, and then plug in the appliance of your choice, and it will measure how much energy that appliance uses
  • You'll have to find out how much your state charges per kilowatt-hour, then put that rate into the Kill A Watt
  • It will then tell you how much money it costs to keep it plugged in
  • If you're super-anal about your power bill and want to figure out how to cut costs and your carbon footprint, this is an easy way to do it
  • $50 might be a little pricey, though

Scosche solBAT II Solar Powered Backup Battery and Charger

  • It's a portable battery that you can charge through USB or just leave out in the sun
  • Scosche says it'll take about two and a half hours via USB or 18 hours in the sun
  • This should be enough to fully charge a smartphone almost twice
  • They included a case that suction cups to your windshield so you can charge in the sun while driving
  • There's also a meter on the front that tells you how much power it has
  • This is definitely a must-buy at only $30

Voltaic OffGrid Solar Backpack

  • You'll be able to charge your phone, iPod, etc. when you're out in the wilderness through the solar panels
  • Voltaic says you'll get about 19 hours talk time or 48 hours music playback from a full charge on the solar battery
  • It only takes about 7 hours in the sun to fully charge the solar cells
  • It does feel kind of heavy, but at least you can detach the solar cells to lighten the load
  • That means you can attach the cells to other things, too
  • If you need something like this, it's a great choice, but super pricey at $250?
  • It's a sturdy backpack, too

Solar Hat Fan

  • Put it on, and hold the light up to it, and it’ll keep you cool
  • The clip is a little loose, and you may have to adjust the fan to make sure it doesn't cut up your forehead
  • For $10 though, what more do you want?
