Surprised no one mention King Arthur the Roleplaying Wargame, as Shogun 2 copies some of the features of that game. Only Angry Joe mentioned the game, I believe.

I absolutaly love the Total War series. Huge fan. I think there some of the best games ever made. The only thing I'm worried about is will I even be able to play this game? The graphics have not only been boosted, but the number of allowed units on the field is supposed to have been made incredibly larger. I'd love to play this game as it not only looks amazing and has some really cool new additions/abilities to the series but it looks pretty CPU/RAM intensive.
