It's amazing how Sony manages to create a new game for nearly every major blockbuster ranging from Madagascar in 2005 to Pirates of the Carribean in 2011. What is most clever about this game however, is the game's ability to incorporate lego characters. It makes it more age friendly to younger players who feel less intimidated by the violence of the game. The game involves a lot of puzzles and brain teasers and the player can change characters when they feel like it. The news game is a development from the previous Pirates of the Carribean Playstation games. Fans of the game have been waiting eagerly for its release in May. The hype involving a group of young gamers camping outside a shopping mall waiting for the release of this game reminds me of the term astroturfing. This is a form of propaganda consisting of a few people attempting to give the impression that mass numbers of enthusiasts advocate some specific cause. Although it is not really the case for this game, there are still a large number of dedicated fans who will attempt to increase it's popularity through various ways. There have even been cases of fans setting up various Facebook accounts in order to establish a bigger fan base for the Facebook PlayStation 3 page. This concept is called sockpuppeting. It only goes to show how a good game can attract a sufficient number of fans.
