i think the people who like cod and buy all of them are like my brother.
He plays a lot of games but he is not interested in the gamesindustry.
He doesn't relaly have something he wants to do so hep lays games all day long, usually COD multiplayer, with his friends who also play games all day long.
He's not vocal about games, he just plays them all the time. I think that is the main market for cod games.
Stephen Johnson was on a roll in this feedback!

Why is a 2-week old episode of Feedback being posted TODAY?
JRK87
Crysis came out in 2007.
By 2009 your computer should've handled it on max. LOL

Single-player games today tend to be derivative. This has changed in the last year or so though: since 2010 we've had some great titles coming out. 2008-2009 all I can think of off-hand that had fantastic single-player:
-Grand Theft Auto IV
-Metal Gear Solid 4
-Fallout 3
-Little Big Planet
-Batman Arkham Aslyum
-Assassin's Creed II
-Uncharted 2
-Dragon Age: Origins
But notice
Multiplayer is actually rarely "tacked on", but the market feels over-saturated with the new social gaming paradigm.
However, there are plenty of multiplayer-focused games, like MMO's, which can be quite fun. Even Star Wars: TOR.
There are more less-publicized games coming out in 2011 that may surprise us both with single-player and/or multiplayer: keeps your eyes peeled!
ASIDE:
Everyone, please stop acting like you're too good for the 3D/Motion control bandwagon. Motion control is no longer a gimmick, it has been half a decade almost, and there were only those 100-200 needlessly mass consumer-oriented games that came out for Wii that gave it a bad rap. Don't hate on 3-D because Avatar brought it out of the underground in the span of one week back in xmas 2009.
People like Adam Sessler are like me: resistant to mass opinion. Maybe you are too, maybe you just don't like how quickly both trends caught on.
It took me 4 years to warm up to Halo (bought 1st game in 2005 and got it as a gift no less), and today I own all of its games.

I loved Borderlands. I never played it in mutiplayer. How do you figure the whole point of Borderlands was multiplayer? It had a whole storyline to play in single player. Dude I don't think you know what your talking about.
Woland77
Sessler asked if there were any games that would have suffered without multiplayer, and no one could think of any. I've got one, and I'm ashamed for them all that they didn't think of it themselves:
Borderlands.
The whole point of that game was multiplayer. It basically didn't have single-player, and it didn't need it, and if you offered it the game woud just pistol whip you and then shoot you.
And if Abbie Heppe were still at G4 (really hope she is enjoying her new job), she would have pointed it out without pause.

Flood the market? Yeah we wouldn't want to do that. That comment should have been canceled due to be being insensitive.

To tell you when bad is good. Enlightening!

to what adam was saying about mulit-player being an add on to some that don`t need it. I have heard a rumor about ME3( mass effect 3) that may have a one in the game any truth to this?

At around 29 minutes in Steven Johnson said that in Bioshock you get to use the drill. I was never able to use the drill. I played it on x-box 360, was the drill only playable in the pc version or something like that?

I'd say Gun Loco was canceled because of Mindjack's utter terribleness. They had probably planned on re-using assets from that trash heap (including the people who worked on it).
I sure wish more teams could get the Irrational treatment. SO MANY games lately have felt rushed (Dragon Age 2, these 3DS games, and Fable 3, to name a few). I'm so worried about Mass Effect 3, with the result of them rushing DA2.
Adam spoils the first plot turn in Half Life! Not cool. It's only been 12.5 years, give us some time, jeez.
