Posted: March 21, 2011
RIFT is the new fantasy MMO RPG that looks to set itself apart with a flexible class system, a soul system, invasions, and superior PvP, questing, and crafting. Morgan Webb lets you know how it turned out in her review.

I completely agree with DrowNoble. Having no instant queue completely impersonal, lazy, easymode, dungeon finder is a super plus to a game. WoW killed itself for me when it made so many changes that it wasn't wow anymore it was easymodewow. The changes made in wow have formed a society of impersonalized, gearscore obsessed jerks who don't care about the point of an MMO game.
With that said I cannot wait to try rift, as it looks beautiful, fluent, and nowhere near as class confined as wow. All of the pros of wow without any of the cons.
Vanilla WoW FTW

I have to say....As a long time Prot Warrior.... 85Levels of it......Nobody has to get more immersed in a game's mechanics than a Tank. If G4 gave WoW:Cataclysm a 5/5, I have absolutely no explanation why this game would get a 4/5. Though this game cannot be called revolutionary (Ultima Online was the genre's revolution not WoW) it is most assuredly a significant refinement of the Fantasy MMO. I am a little disappointed that Morgan did this review as she is a hardcore MMO player....I would suggest she level to at least 30 and then review it again.

I have to disagree that the no dungeon finder is a minus. That's a plus, you actually have to socialize and go to the actual dungeon. Instead of standing in one spot and just queue for dungeon, queue for pvp, repeat.
Plus the gear "grind" is not standard. For one, crafted items are actually useful unlike That Other Game where only items crafted at level cap are worth using. In addition, fight in rifts and you earn planarite a special token used to buy planar gear. Fight in enough rifts, trust me that won't be hard, and you can get some sweet armor that will last you a while.
Rift 5/5 hands down.

I'm shocked this game got a 4/5. the cons don't seem to justify a 4/5 instead of a 5/5.
Played the game on beta it looks great. If I wasn't liking WoW so much now then I would have definitly be playing this.

Looks good but I think I will just wait for Guild Wars 2 :)

This game looks sweet. Thanks for the Review X-Play.

Soooo. It got 4 because it was made by Trion?
I don't see the reason why it got 4 in the review. Please state why the game lost it's point, else the scoring of the game just becomes pointless (pun intended)
