I don't get it. Killzone 3 is game that is an improvement on it predicessors in every way, and it still gets no respect, mostly because of its narrative this time.? So G4 which is more important gameplay or narrative? IMO I don't think KZ3's narrative is any worse than Black Ops, Halo Reach, or any other shooter released in the past couple of years. In market that recieves such a glut of a particular kind of FPS in given era. The World War II shooters. Your human vs Alien moster shooters, and now your Modern Combat shooters, you would think its whole "Space Nazi" concept would recieve a little respect on its on. The KZ storyline is basically an intergallactic civil war, The Helgahst are not monsters they are bascially us. The storyline is not unlike our own history such as World War I and II, The Civil War and so on. By it being humans on another planet it give the kind of freedom that Modern Shooters don't have and that is naming a clear enemy without creating such taboo's that led Medal of Honor dropping the use of Al Queda as an opposing force.

Secondly why does all FPS shooters have to be cinematic in movie sense? Why not cinematic in re-occuring TV drama sense. IMO that is what the Killzone franchise represent, and sets it apart from other franchises, like Gears, Halo and CoD. In some ways it reminds me of show like the Wire, where the player sees all sides of the conflict not just one. In the Wire the viewer can find themselves rooting the "bad guys" at some point like with Omar, and hating the good guys at times like McNullty. I think that somewhere between CoD 6 and Battlefield 5 a Franchise like Killzone will be a lot more apprecated for what it brings to the genre, and most likely be copied by other future franchises, once gamers have had their fill of modern combat shooters like they did with WWII shooters.

I don't post often but I had to respond... seriously G4? No love for the Dead Island trailer?

I guess you have to let yourself feel something in the first place. Matt and Adam were not in the mood, it seems. Personally, it made me tear up a little bit, despite me not having a daughter nor knowing anything about these fictional characters prior to watching the trailer. A video game trailer made me feel something in less than 4 minutes, which I thought was astonishing.

Isn't it commendable that this is a new notion about zombies in games? Not once when playing Dead Rising or Left 4 Dead did I care about the people I was "killing": I just laughed as I crushed their skulls with blunt instruments. They were nameless shuffling carcasses that didn't have family, thoughts, or lives prior to meeting my swinging baseball bat. Not even in the re-boot of Dawn of the Dead (in which there is a similar daughter-turned-zombie incident) did I feel as bad, and that was a portrayal with real actors. (Well... debatable)

I'm not saying that this trailer is an accurate depiction of how good the game is going to be, nor am I arguing that zombies are ever going to be more than B-level entertainment, but the trailer made me consider the possibility of connecting to video game death in ways not seen since Half-Life Episode 2.

I'm saying all of this BECAUSE this is feedback, where you tout an "intelligent conversation about video games", and yet your response to the trailer, in which everyone I've seen considers highly relevant on a personal level, was so aloof.

Cold in San Francisco?! Try 10 degrees in Minnesota.
Anyhow, that multiplayer mode in Killzone sounds pretty interesting where it seamlessly goes from one game mode to the next. Too bad I don't have a PS3...

Actually, I either unless bulletstorm comes out on PC then i can use my head set. I have kids and for one will not allow that amount of cussing infront of them, but since I am an adult I will be more then happy to play it. I do not own a PS3 so no Killzone for me.

Cmone, I like a spirited critique as much as a next guy, but your attempt to put down KZ3 feels more lake a lame placeholder 'cose it come out this week and you need to say something about it. There was not even a proper effort to not liking the game. Just something incoherent - "meah.... I knida dont like the game". Well you know what guys, you are paid to be reviewing games, you are paid not only to play it, but to go a step farther and research the subject. So how about you stop feeling that you going to have sustained audience for long period of time that will be happy to simply look at your faces and start doing some work.

For what it's worth, I think "Dead Island" is the greatest trailer I've ever seen ... and no, I don't have a daughter (and yes, it does nothing to tell me whether or not the GAME ITSELF is going to be any good).

Great Feedback discussion even if it was a bit controversial. I have to disagree with the idea that multiplayer can never be better than CoD and that everyone else can't reach that level so don't try.

If no one ever tries to better than CoD you will never get an opportunity to grow past that level and you will be stuck playing the same thing over and over again.

While I love CoD and want the new step forward in multiplayer gaming. It might meaning going though bad ones trying to be different but at least they took a chance to be great.

Once again these crodgedy old men are down on something everybody else loves. The trailer was great and having just recently had a child it definitely hit a little closer to home.

i like KZ3 and i really like what they did with the level progression in mp, it was my biggest problem KZ2. although i hate what they did to the single player, in the sense of cut-scenes and leading up to said scenes, it really took me out of the game and upset me a bit cause it seemed like they just stringed things together and it doesn't make sense

I totally agree though, I played Killzone 1 and 2 and they're just kinda boring games. It's as good as Singularity to me. They're good, and fun, but nothing to write home about.

Can I ask what the deal is with people hating on Bullestorm VS Killzone? Who cares. Play both of them. Bulletstorm PC is the most fun i've had in ashooter over the past year and killzone just never did it for me even on the ps2, but I don't think that bulletstorm is better. I'll play both, what the hell.

I liked the Dead Island trailer A LOT. I think the problem with zombies is that they are in places they should not be. Besides Resident Evil and L4D, I do not see many zombie-centered games out there. If Dead Island has an emotional story and the constrictive setting of an island, it could be unique.

P.S. all other gaming sites I have seen are going ga ga because of the Dead Island trailer, except you guys.

Namco really owns the copyright on fighting game tutorials? That's crazy. I'm sure you're right...but it still seems nuts that a company can own the concept of teaching people how to play your game.

On a side note, I really wish that someone would fix the comments section one of these days, I've been watching Feedback almost since it started and browsing the comments in Firefox has never really worked. Actually leaving a comment is fine. As long as you don't refresh. Then you duplicate your comment. But trying to browse the comment section usually just results in being linked to an empty page.

Anyway, glad Feeback is still on the air, keep em coming guys!

THIS ISN'T A RANT AND I'M NOT WHINING

Okay, I'll start off by saying this; I love G4TV, with that in mind I feel that I should critique their critique in regards to the Killzone series (primarily 2 and 3). First off the series; the Killzone series has this fairly deep and gritty background full of propaganda, anguish, betrayal ultimately resulting in humanity turning on each other. It's very much like WWII in space and I've become aware that the G4 staff knows absolutely nothing about it, but it's not all their fault Guerrilla should have pushed all that story to the for front from the get-go.

In Killzone 2 you're sent to Helghan, why? To stop the Helghan from invading Earth again but your purpose of why you're there can get lost with all the mayhem. That said, there is a lot of story in it. I'm going to use Matt Keil as an example, he knows absolutely nothing about the universe apparently. If he (and anyone else) actually researched Killzone and Killzone: Liberation he and everyone else on this podcast would probably have at least a tiny bit more understanding and respect for it; and it is that lack of knowledge that makes people up-in-arms. I mean even Adam displays this lack of knowledge regarding the franchise.

Matt Keil said he "only played an hour or two and couldn't get through it..." already you shouldn't be offended but you really can't be offended because he can't form a proper opinion, so why get upset? Still on Matt Keil (once again I am not attacking G4 or it's staff) but I remember Matt Keil saying that he had never played Resistance: Fall of Man and/or Resistance 2 because he had a negative outlook on the games (possibly the console as well) prior to actually playing them; with said comment about Killzone 2 in mind it's possible he could have a similar thought/view towards the Killzone franchise (i.e. he can't get through it because of the negative opinions that still surrounds Killzone). Just a thought.

I DO NOT think G4 is trying to discredit Sony or their games, I think they just have a lack of knowledge towards the (Killzone) franchise and in term a somewhat inconsistent review was written and would-be credible opinions are not as credible as they should be (or they're not credible at all). This isn't a rant, I'm not whining because I don't really care but I do feel I had to say something.

Feed back and G4 in general needs a guy souly for PC gaming perspective o.O its not always about the consoles, PC gamers have legitimate problems with ports that are never addressed. Your Y button sticks and becomes unreceptive? yeah well you should have tried it on PC.
