Right off the bat G4 makes the same mistake that other sites made. The expansion Catacylsm did NOT shatter the world. That was patch 4.0 "The Shattering", the xpac itself didn't do that. As for expansions, Cata is one of the smallest ones released to date.
Plus of all those 1st day sales, it was reported that Blizzard counted all the digital sales in that number. So essentially, over 3 million of those sales were actually the digital presales, which is basically people who well before hand paid $40 to predownload files.
Also, the Cataclysm didn't really seem that cataclysmic. Some zones didn't even look that different, Desolace, featured in the trailer, had no noticeable changes until you went to the center of the zone.
All fanboy-ism aside, this expansion was rather disappointing.
