Samsung 50" PN50C430 Plasma Television Review

Samsung's 50" PN50C430 plasma proves that you don't have to break the bank to get a flat screen TV with a mega dynamic contrast ratio, 500Hz subfield motion and a wallet friendly price tag, Kevin Pereira and Candace Bailey take a look at the features in the Samsung 50" plasma TV.

What You Need to Know

• The inputs are on the back so it won't be very easy to wall-mount
• It only has 2 HDMI inputs
• The TV is pretty thin for a plasma at only 2.7”
• The screen is glossy, so it will have a lot of reflections in a well-lit room
• Since this is a budget  TV there aren't too many extra features, so you're not going to get internet apps or anything like that, but you do get the fast motion technology, which works okay
• The 600 hertz refresh rate is supposed to make fast-moving images easier to see by showing each frame of the movie up to 600 times a second
• This means you should see everything much clearer than on a normal television, which only shows each frame up to 60 times a second
• Action sequences looked better than normal, but it wasn't enough to make us sit up and take notice
• The 2,000,000: 1 dynamic contrast ratio means that blacks look deep and colors are extremely vivid
• One thing we did notice was that, as you turned up the contrast, colors would begin over-exposing
• We're kind of nitpicking, because overall, we really liked watching it

• This is, by no means a bad TV, so it won't disappoint you at that price
• We think you'll be able to do a little better this week, though
