Gears of War 3 has already generated plenty of spilled ink, but Blair Herter had a chance to ask Epic Games Design Dir. Cliff Bleszinki what he thinks are the biggest Gears 3 features that journalists have been missing.

    Okay, looking through these posts, I see a lot of people wanting to address the issue of lag in Gears2...The problem is, i played Gears 2 a lot, and still play every once in a while now, and I never had a problem with lag...My problem, then and now, is the matchmaking. As soon as I got Gears 2 at midnight, i ran home and immediatey despised the matchmaking, but it did get better after updates and now I think it is a much better game than i originally thought...O and Gears 3 looks ridic.

    If U read the book Dizzy is alive and well. So yeah he has to be in the next game. They have the author from the books writing the story for the final game, and there were 2 new books released after Gears 2 that bridge the story in prep for the next game, Dizzy is alive, and there are 3 new chars for the SP, and MP that they have not talked about yet from the books that have been confirmed for ingame:

    SP charicters:

    Dizzy
    Dom
    Marcus
    Anya
    Sam
    Cole
    Prescot
    Hammond
    Matik
    The last Carmine Brother

    MP charicters:

    All those above plus the fallowing:

    Locust Queen
    Tia
    Ben Carmine
    The other dead Carmine
    Locust Drone (old, Gears 2, and Gears 3 versions)
    Locust Grenadier (same as above)
    Kantus (Gears 2/3 versions)

    Also each player model has at least 2 skins, the main charicters have 3 skins to choose from. U unlock those through online play BTW, plus Gears 3 uses all the shaders the Xbox360 can muster, plus 2 times AA, 30FPS, and ultra high detail textures, and effects all at 1080p. The PS3 can do this kind of graphics too, but Sony would have to lock it to 720p for the sake of performance. Install to HDD will be needed, but thats not a huge deal if U have a 250GB Xbox360S like me, and 2 16GB USB sticks.

    To all the people saying they wont be getting this game because of the lag from the second game, they are adding dedicated servers meaning no lag. They are learning from their mistakes from gears 2.

    I love the story but the online lag and match making sucks so bad. I will have to pass on the one because I haven't heard on thing about them adressing that issue all I hear about is new features.

    Gears 2 multiplayer wasnt for. fantastic story though. i know the story will be fantastic, I trust them on that. Hopefully they improve the multiplayer though.

    I love this game but I had to buy gears 1 because gears 2 mp is unplayable for me, no biggy I just have high hope for Gears 3 there is nothing like it.

    Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of customization for multilayer but I think that the pink lancer and the football outfit just kill the feeling of the game for me. Gears has always had a dirty and gritty feel to it and if I start running around seeing pink and yellow lancers its just going to kill it. Why not a deep red? or sage green? Why something so bright and colorful? I'm not sure what other customization they have in store but I think that having the ability to customize the armor would have been enough for me.
