What You Need To Know
The Yamaha YHT494 Home Theater is an all-in-one system that comes with its own receiver, sound bar for your center and front speakers, 2 rear surround speakers and a subwoofer.
The design is pretty compact.
The home theater system has more than enough ports in the back, including antennae, audio/video jacks and a port for a Yamaha iPod dock.
The YHT494 also has 4 HDMI inputs and 1 HDMI out.
The interface is pretty standard with an easy to understand button layout on the receiver.
The programmable remote control allows you to control your Blu-ray player and TV.
There are several different audio settings for watching action films, sports, playing video games, etc.
There's no auto configuration option, so you will have to read the manual to optimize your system if you can't figure it out.
The YHT494 can output up to 600 watts of audio, which sounds awesome.
This is some of the best surround sound we've heard in this price range.
Even with the volume at high levels, there was no distortion.
The mids were a little lost but overall, the highs and lows all sounded about equal.
The surround sound works and you can actually tell which direction the sound is coming from.
The Yamaha home theater is also 3D compatible for those who have 3D systems.
It has great sound quality for its price with an easy set up, though you will need to cut and strip the wires yourself.
There are enough ports to handle your media players and consoles.
