2010 Was boring. Most games were usually just previous games + More junk. (Fallout NV, SMG2, Halo Reach, The list goes on and on.)

Thankfully some original crap came out too. (Read Dead R., Limbo, etc)

Since 2011 promises some new systems and TES 5, there's something to fap to.

I thought Mass Effect 2 was enough to make 2010 amazing. That game alone makes 2010, imo, not feel like an "In 'N Out." If ME2 wasn't released this year, then I would agree with you Sess.

I think this year was the year of the revival. Look at Kirby Epic Yarn, Donkey Kong Country returns, Castlevania, Starcraft II, Splinter Cell Conviction, Goldeneye and even though they aren't out yet Mortal Kombat 9, Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Twisted Metal all huge announcements of the year. All these series have created a void that was missing in the gaming world and were all reborn this year or very soon to come.
I think 2010 was the point where all consoles have reached their "maturing" point(not mature content but growth as a system) and I think we are going to see some truly remarkable games in 2011.

Even though it was not anything different graphic & gameplay wise Fallout New Vegas was easily the best game of the year that brought better pacing & nearly 4 times more quest & content without need of DLC unlike Fallout 3

Sessler; I find it disappointing that G4; and mostly all of its associated releases and commentaries focus nearly 100% on console gaming. I think if you look responsibly at gaming revenue (from all angles) you will see that the PC market isn't all that far behind the console market. In terms of quality, the consoles are absolute trash. You don't even bother acknowledging games like Starcraft 2 on this site; are they part of some forgotten "Hardcore" or "Underground" "Niche" audience that I am unknowingly a part of? I think not; I think G4 has simply chosen not to focus on such things and stick to what is popular with the casual crowd, the consoles. G4.com is a site I only visit now when by mistake, or perhaps once or twice a month when I am scouring every gaming site I know of for certain news.

I think it could be really good for your site to focus on a more broad sense of gaming; and not just the easy bake oven consoles and the casual "hardcore" crowd.

Uncharted 2 rocked which was left out..... I just hope developers learn to listen to the players. It seems they still don't with games that crashed and burned. You get on their web site and they put you through the mill to just leave a comment and if they do want to hear back its multiple choice. Its our money that fills their pockets, listen to us users/gamers folks.

I tend to agree with Adam on this one. There wasn't anything mind blowing about gaming this year. Yes, there were some solid titles that came out, but not much in the lines of I have to own. God of War 3 and Mario Galaxy 2 were awesome and definitely worth the money I paid for them, but they weren't groundbreaking. Hopefully, 2011 can rectify the situation with Zelda, Uncharted 3, and Batman Arkham City. Otherwise its going to be a long year of games I haven't played for a while.

I agree completely, this has been a dull year, my pick of the grop is Fallout New Vegas, and that got less of my time than fallout 3 did (despite me absolutely adoring it)

No comments on this soapbox? Seriously?

I must say I agree. Granted I haven't played all of the new sequels this year - Black Ops and Assassins Creed Brotherhood (still have to prevent self from calling it 2.5)

I just feel.... BLAH. Like there is a big epic story of a game with awesome mechanics that is just hidden behind the curtain waiting to be pulled, but never getting done. Mass Effect can only hold me over for so long. 4 plays and then some of ME1 and ME2 on 360 I am exhausted with playing the same game that is the closest to something else that I want but doesn't exist. The proverbial game I am waiting for. And still waiting.

That and the consoles seem a bit dull in terms of exclusives next year. PS3 (which I don't own) has a lot going for it next year. The 360 on the other hand only has Gears and Forza, which, only the former is of interst to me next year and not by tons. Its not enough of a competetion so next year we're definately going to need some new IP's popping up and not as announcements for the following year or 2 *eyes Bioshock Infinite* but something coming out IN 2011.

Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Deux Ex, and Bulletstorm. All multiplatform, all buys from me next year. The thing is 3 of 4 of these are from an existing franchise yet again and while I love the first Dead Space, slightly so DA Origins, and curious about Deus Ex, these are all existing franchises, even if one is trying to make a come back. So far at this point it feels like we'll feel just as stale and... MEH next year from the looks of it when it begins to draw to a close.

I think Mass Effect 2 made the year for me, and next year is going to be sick with two more great BioWare sequels, Dragon Age II and Mass Effect 3, great ways to begin and end the year, and it'll be fun to have ME win GOTY two years in a row!!!!!
