I still play SSX3 on my PS2. I hope they don't screw this up!

This does note bode well. With a quarter-century of console gaming, SSX is still my number one favorite franchise ever. It looks like some idiot suit at EA has rejected every dev-pitched, true, fun incarnation of SSX until this 'SSX of Duty' version came up because "all the gamers like those first-person shooter games," and now we have this travesty. Where is the thumping soundtrack, the unreal out-of-bindings tricks, the characters jawing off at one another, insane multipliers, DJ Atomika or Rahzel commentary, and labyrinthine man-made indoor snow parks? I know I should give the devs a fair chance, but the series has been on the decline since On Tour and Blur came out. This trailer gives me no other impression than that the soul of the series has been leeched in the name of a greedy cash-in on the name of SSX.

What happend to EA BIG!? i seriously hope its not like a real snowboarding sim or anything. i like the over the top cartoony style of ssx tricky through blur. they're all awesome. i am praying they haven't done away with my favorite characters and all that fun stuff.

Maybe its just all the fresh snow outside (here in the Twin Cities), but I haven't been able to stop fuming about this teaser since seeing it premiered during the VGA. There's absolutely none of the personality, none of the life, of any of the prior entries on display here, even the title gets the attitude of the series wrong, and turning Elise into a helicopter? That's just a big kick in the balls to the untold hours I (and others) have put into Tricky, SSX3, and the other entries in the franchise.
Sure, this is only a 50 second CG teaser, but the official site and tagline does nothing to make me think that the game's going to be anything other than this Serious Business garbage. The General Concept of big, dangerous runs down real mountains is not bad, but it's also Not SSX. Just call it Deadly Descent and let it be its own thing, okay? It's fine, I can wait for you to come back with a proper SSX entry, or even HD remakes of the first three, but until then, I'll be over here playing SSX3.

It was a short trailer so we can't really say if its going to be over the top like past SSX games, sweet trailer though. I've been waiting for a good Snowboarding game to come out for the current consoles for years, looks like my wait will be over next Winter. Time to go play out in the real snow now.
