    The original Banjo-kazooies

I am still waiting for a proper Golden Eye and Banjo Kazooie, the revamps were unmentionable to be kind.

The maturity of the industry has stunted innovation and creativity simply because they need to make money, only things that make money make viable business.

So with that in mind they will create some sort of cookie cutter metric to measure "viability" beacause you need to be sustainable.

Basically the industry is maturing and those types of innovative titles will come further and further apart.

Men with muscles: Adam likes them.

    Also, great Soapbox, as usual.

That was a great soapbox. I need to play different types of games before I get bored with a genre or a style of game. I am tired of FPS at the moment. I have been playing then in the last 1990's but there were other games with different styles so I would go play them and not get burned out. Speaking of gritty, even Star Craft has the roids looking hero's.

Great Soapbox! I agree with you Adam. I want a new Metal Arms,Voodoo Vince,Vexx or Oddworld, etc.

I def wouldn't mind if we see a lot more contrast to these summer blockbuster games. Don't get me wrong I like the blockbuster games but I want some of the fun natured platformers that we used to have back. Or some new original fun platformers.

In related news, there is now a penis growing app in the app store.

In all seriousness however, I agree with you, the thing that irks me more than anything is the limited number of lighthearted (say, sly or any of many platformers out there), that do not make it to the PC platform, or only come in the form of crappy ports (at least there's psychonauts) when those games are ideal for the PC. Low hardware requirements, and something most kids have in their homes prior to buying a console. But anyway, hopefully there will be a platformers redux of some kind in the future.

The only thing that is still like this that is still new is the rachet and clank series.

I would love for a Tomba comeback. I'm unsure who developed it or if they're even still around, but that'd be amazing. Also, Sess, Youtube the Sly 4 trailer. It is coming.

My favorite franchise is still Ratchet and Clank. There's just something all-around enjoyable about all of those games.

Most games are made by boys cause most game buyers are boys. Easy enough. (And from what I can tell from the Black Ops player card designs boys who like to draw penis) Name a game that is created by females designed to attract males to play. Can't do it.

Rocket Knight was a pretty damn good revival of Sparkster from the peak of the Sega Genesis days that came out fairly recently. Painfully (and I mean painfully) short, but was damn good gameplay for what time you got out of it.

    That one count?

    Penis Quest 2: Wang's Revenge.
This is an old one, but the first platformer that comes to mind is Rare's Jet Force Gemini for the 64. Loved that game. HD remake would be awesome.

lol good soap box totally agree about how some games are becoming way to generic whether it be another soldier in a war or save the world complex seems all that matters is what will sell the best =(

p.s favorite old games on my shelf donkey kong country or first spyro the dragon loved those games when I was a kid

I agree. I got Costume Quest when it came out and I really enjoyed it. I definitely plan on getting the Sly Collection, especially because I've never played any of them. Another one I'm looking forward to is the Oddworld:Strangers Wrath HD remake coming out.

Great soapbox Adam! When I try to play games like Little Big Planet I got scorned by my father for being childish I just laughed and kept playing (they have the PS3 and I had to rent it and go up to their house to play it). I do play fallout 3, Gears of War, Left 4 Dead 2 and many others that are very gory, but its nice to sit down with something cute and different.... It just seems people are not secure with their masculinity or are afraid they will be ostracised if they play a game like LBP or similar cutesy titles. Thanks Adam !

Did anyone else expect this to be about the Black Ops emblem editor just from reading the title. I mean seriously, what the hell, people have this tool with which they can create something really interesting and unique, and like half the players use it to make a penis. WTF?!
