This is why Valve is so great, it's been almost 4 years since we've seen the Orange Box. They create insanely memorable characters, fantastic and gripping storylines. Granted, yes, they did release Left 4 Dead and Left 4 Dead 2, but it's even been a year or two since the last one was released. Valve is like a hot girl friend who leaves for a while, and when she comes back, you're not only extremely excited to see her, but, she also seems to look hotter as well.

think i;ll wait for duke nukem do a new thang homey
Wolfhammer
i didnt think i could feel this way but hes actually incredibly right(to my situation) i went and got halo reach played it for a week nonstop then i haven't touched it sense.
i actually found myself trying to find a new experience(went and tried enslaved and death spank both were pretty good) same happend with black ops while i am really enjoying the single player experience when i get to the multiplayer modes i feel like i just got more of the same.
and while that's fine with me, and more of the same is fine when the game is still a knock out. it just seems my time spent earlier this year playing through mass effect 13 times was far more enjoyable(i mean i played it over and over just trying to get the all the endings i could possibly get and enjoyed it every time)
i guess im a sucker for not renting first but i see those shiny new sequels and i cant help myself
this so especially bad cause i told myself a 1000 times I'm not getting black ops but you bet your life i was in line to buy the game at midnight x.x .

While I agree with everything said in the video. Isn't this the same thing you were defending when L4D2 came out just a year after the original? L4D2 felt exactly like the original to me, awesome, but the excitement factor wasn't really there like the first (which is exactly the point you're making about black ops). Completely agree about ME2. That is how a sequel should be done. Publishers are cashing in on the COD franchise now, but maintaining that success in the future may be harder for them.

This is becoming to console gamers like Delta Force was to Novalogic's PC series. Too many sequels of a particular gaming franchise often kills the game's lineage and the replayability of those previously released titles. Before long people begin asking themselves "Why bother buying the same game with a newer name?"

I share a lot of the same feelings as most commentors here as well. Call of Duty has always been a great franchise, but after 4 the series got to that point where you can only approve upon the feel of the game so much. What kept me interested was the multiplayer, which also since 4 has gone through minor changes to the point where every 11 months i'm not going to drop another $60. I think some of the games that will get buried this holiday because of it like Enslaved and Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom it's a real shame. Let's just hope Activision realizes what they are doing to their once beloved franchises and takes a step back to look at problems or just take a year off. This goes for you too Guitar Hero!

Personally I'm glad black ops game out because MW2 was so broken. I think with the CoD franchise each game has gotton better but the fact that slegehammer is makin a new CoD and inifinity ward I dont like because another CoD after blackops we just dont need their is no point and I think we are going to see the inevitable Fall od Duty just like tony hawk and guitar hero.

The solution R* they do it right. U dont see a GTA every single year and they dont over hype until right before the games release. Even with the DLC's they just stay long enough, and then change the dynamic w/ RDR and hopefully LA NOire and Agent.

The franchise lost its magic after Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

Guys i will say after playing Black Ops I am not feeling COD Fatigue they added enough to online multiplayer for me to make it feel like a different experience but not far enough away from what i'm used to at it's core.

I totaly agree, there are many great games this holiday. But I'm really missing an original title this holiday. I really wish there was a Heavy Rain or a Red Dead Redemption that would make me feel like I'm not just back in 2007 again.

Another great Soapbox Sess, keep'em coming :]

never played it after cod1 which i loan from a friend so i hope u kids are ready when the cod comes upon you but what u doing sitting on ur butts playing ull be outa shape and they will say gosh maybe they can be frontline lmao
geeklactica
they may as well start adding the year to the call of duty games like the sports games if they are going to release one each year.
expl0siv0
Whoa! Is Adam suggesting that he is going to play it online at the end? That doesn't sound like the Sess I know!

I for one can't wait for next years Call of Duty and for the one a year after that but not for the reason you might think. I simply can't wait for Activision to drive yet another franchise into the ground by putting a new but hardly improved title out every year. I'm ready for the fall of the fps. Don't get me wrong, I like them but not this much. The market is too damn swamped with them and CoD in particular eats up too much money in the market. I want to see more of that money go to other developers of phenomenal games. Then maybe we'll start to see more variety and innovation in the industry. Hopefully that day comes sooner than later.

Wow. I actually think Black Ops is a big step forward for the series. The storytelling is very different in this one although the missions do still feel like Call of Duty. The multiplayer received a pretty big overhaul what with the new CoD points system (and the fact there is no riot shield, predator missile, dual shotguns, and the n00b tube has apparently been weakened). There also wager matches which seem pretty cool. Now, where will the series go from here? That is a very good question.

To me the game feels exactly like Call of Duty World At War (for obvious reasons: Treyarch) but it seems to me more like a Call of Duty World At War "PART 2" but more POLISHED and in a different setting....but that's all.
If your looking more like a Modern-warfare 3 or MW feel....look somewhere else!... overall, good game anyways!.

Yeah, I too am getting tired of all these sequels, something new, at least with Mass Effect 2 it was a good 3 years after the first game, Reach was about that time as well and that game is still fun for me to play, but I'm already starting to grow weary of New Vegas and Fable III, and I don't even want Black Ops because I'm fed up with CoD, nor do I want AC: Brotherhood, once more, don't want more of the same. I, and probably a lot of gamers, am in dire need of something new, I'm seriously getting tired of all this sequel business.
