The fact that this thing can make so many girls stop and say "I have to try that" is going to get it an unbelievable amount of sales help.

On a completely unrelated note, I have to get one.

I think that Kinect is more than a Me-Too product like the PSMove. Its got more to it and more functionality plus it can be used for a lot more than games. The Wii had a cool concept but Nintendo didn't put enough money into the Wii with lackluster tech and even worse....a lot of bad, shovelware games. Its early in Kinect's life but I hope more hardcore games utilize the control and make it work. the other Motion Controls like the Wii have failed for the most part but Kinect has the opportunity to rock.

Maybe Kinect has improved int he last six months... Just a thought. E3 was a while ago, and it was not a place for good one on one like testing in their own studios.

Sorry I did not simply reply to your post, but for some reason I cannot reply to any posts. If anyone knows why I can't I would love to hear how to fix it.

Just a couple points of interest. I think people are forgetting that $150 is a fair price when you take into account that you do not have to buy any extra controllers. Move is 100 buck if you are a single player and 150 if you have a friend. If you have a family and need four controllers it is 250. I realize that is not the case for most, but since gaming is such a big deal for families nowadays I thought I would throw that in here.

I also find it funny how several years ago Microsoft and Sony laughed at Nintendo for their "gimmick" and now that Nintendo is king again they want to hop on board. Thank goodness we have a company like Nintendo willing to take risks in order to advance gaming.

Onto the actual reviews. I own all three systems and think Kinect is full of wondrous possibilities, but that currently it is pretty weak. I look forward to one day getting the Kinect when they have more games that interest me. The reviews/feedback/talkabout talk about some pretty sizable problems. Kevin (I think, sorry if it was someone else) said on Feedback that people can't walk behind you, and someone else said people have to stay off frame or the game will recognize them and throw them in the game or it will freak your system out. That seems like a pretty big deal since most people chill on a couch right behind where people play. Everyone on Feedback agreed the games were pretty shallow and had weak gameplay. Everyone has mentioned the space issue. With all of that I would understand if it got a review like, "Great tech that just hasn't reached it potential yet." So we could all see it was a nice jump forward in gaming, but that it just needed to be refined over the next year or so.

All the reviews here seem to tell two stories. I applaud G4 for their willingness to tell us what was not working for Kinect, but feel that should have dampered their review slightly. Not a big deal since I love video games, and am not a blind fanboy... well not totally blind. ;-)

Keep doing what you are doing G4, and tell the whiners to go play some more Killzone!!!

    @Liquid Swords
I love how every PS3 owner goes to the god of war 5/5 argument..GOD OF WAR SUCKS! He are some examples for you, (Mass Effect 2 5/5,Fable 2 5/5,Gears of war 5/5, gears of war 2 5/5) see I can do that to! GoW is nothing but button mashing, and playable cut scenes, it got old halfway through the second GoW. I am a 360 owner, and 360 is the BEST, not just cause of the games and the "exclusives" but because we have the BEST online experience, sure we pay for it, but most of the time we get the downloadables first. Also 360 is considered the "hardcore" game choice for online play, COD, Halo, any online shooter, is played on 360 the most. So I say to the Ps3 owners, all you did was waste money on a very expensive blu ray player..ya you! Oh and I could care less about the exclusive ps3 owners get, most of those games are lame anyway.

First and foremost I want to apologize to Abbie and Dana for all the misogynistic comments made by my gender. It is uncalled for, especially over something such as system hardware. If you don't like the Kinect or if you think it has its problem or you don't agree with the piece that is your personal preference, but to come out and write such comments is completely unacceptable.
I have been a long time follower of G4 and I have always enjoyed their style of journalism and when it comes to the review their integrity. I myself at time have felt some of their review unfair or disagree, but that is the nature of personal opinion and discussion.
The moment you go from disagreeing with someone and attacking them, especially on their differences (gender), you become something lower then an internet troll.
    But thats just my opinion

Looks like they handled the Kinect with kid gloves. Sure it s fun, just like the Wii and the Move. Sure it works, just like the Wii and the Move. Sure it s geared more towards a younger audience and casual gamers, just like the Wii and the Move.

Now be honest about how you don t give a crap about the software. If you would never come back to any of the games after some dabbling and they re not for you and you re telling hardcore gamers, the people who are watching this talkabout to get an honest opinion, not to bother with it, then they can t really mean the praise they tossed it s way.

It s a nice piece of tech and I m interested in possible future applications, and current non-game related applications, but it s a gaming peripheral with no games for a larger percentage of game consumers. And I can t honestly believe that they think any of the games available up front are anything more than tech demos. It s obvious that s what they are.

When they re highest praise is it s fun but I wouldn t play these games if I wasn t paid too, then their apparent excitement for the thing seems pretty unwarranted.

    Just sayin .

It's nice how so many people take these talkabouts so far out of context..

They aren't reviewing it here, and not promoting it for sales, they are simply statting their general views/opinions about it and weither or not it lived up to what was expected.

This shouldn't have to be explained, but the sole purpose of most talkabouts are about just that, a more personal take on the subject and their raw feelings towards it, basically allowing the speakers more freedom to say a lot of things that don't fit into a review criteria.

Now why would anyone want to point to 1 review in particular, cowardice I guess, when you can see an average of numerous reviews.

    Metacritic scores

    Dance Central 84
    Kinectimals 77
    Kinect sports 75
    Your Shape 71
    Kinect Adventures 66

In the name of courage shall we compare the top rated Kinect games to the top Move games:

    Sports champions 76
    Eyepet 70
    Start the Party 55
    Raquet Sports 47
