I feel the exact same way I stand up for the 10 year olds on xbox live that cussed out by the @$$holes even if it means becoming friends with someone I'm probably never going to play with again. These people should have their gaming system of choice hit at least once with a bat and have their balls kicked 50 times for every time they are a dick to someone online. Why don't you come to my hometown and say that to my face 'cuz your a bitch that's why. RAGEGASM!!!!!!!!

During my high school (Which was a couple of years back) I did get bullied by quite a few people. I got into fights that they started until I graduated. As the years of being away from school a friend of mine told me that some of those said bullies actually became real failures at life.

One who smokes pot each day and got fired from a jumping castle hire company from scaring a kid, another dropped out of high school and moved into a vocational education and training provider which was somewhat like community college and dropped out of that. (Dropping out of that is pretty damn hard) And for an added bonus, the kid that dropped out of high school did get into allot of fights. Ironic thing is that he would often lose those fights.

Since then, I have met lots of new people who are great friends and pretty much enjoyed life since. It definitely does get better after high school but in the mean time, go to your teacher or principal etc and tell them about your bullying problem. IF they do little or nothing at all about it, get your parents to complain and they just might.

Take some self defence classes as a one hit KO will make you look totally 'effing badass and don't listen to what they say. If you do ignore them and show that you aren't fazed by what they say, they'll feel weak and powerless.

Good luck kids. And remember, it's not assault if they make the first punch. It's self defence. Not that I'm trying to preach school fights but it's better to have a defence than no defence at all.

This is the whole reason I do not play multiplayer of ANY game on XBL. I have yet to EVER run into someone that says, "Hey, your not doing so good? Do you know where the shotgun is? Are you better with that?" Meaning no one will help you get better EVEN IN TEAM GAMES!!!!, but they sure will teabag you and harass you with messages and "friend" request, or tell you that you are a worthless human being because you only got 5 kills in that round of slayer. Nope, only play with friends, who I know. So usually there are 20% of achievements I will not even try to get in a game, cause they are multiplayer, and that I don't like, cause I like achievements.

I love you, Mr. Sessler, in a non stalker/non psycho kind of way. As a gay man and just as a person with a heart, all of the attention given to the suicides depressed me even more. Hearing your words of support and wisdom have brightened my moods immensely. Thank you once again for bringing a smile to my face Mr. Sessler.

    Right on, Sess!

I think part of what makes bullying in the Internet age all the more harmful is its omnipresent nature, i.e., with texting, cell phones and social networking there really is no escape from the constant torment. This problem is made doubly worse in that that age group practically lives on the internet or electronic media; there is no escape from it, no respite. Kids today are constantly bombarded on all sides from the media and youth-focused attack marketing.

Kids at that age are already awkward and insecure enough; it's tough to be a kid right now.

This is why I always play with voices muted, unless I'm in a party with people on my friends list. It sucks sometimes when you're playing an objective based game like Sabotage or CTF, and you can't coordinate any kind of strategy because there's one guy yelling about how gay you are or what he's gonna do to your mom tonight. Better to play with voices muted than listen to that crap.

Thanks for this. Reddit sent me over to this clip, and I am very much considering making g4tv one of my main internet stops to show my support for a gaming community and sentiment like this. Keep up the good work.

I completely agree and sometimes I just want to have some fun and hop into a game of Halo or COD and some jack hole is just running their mouth. If it's one guy it's easy to avoid and send complaints but when it's an entire team it takes too much time to avoid or file complaints, at least on XBox live.

Great job Adam. I completely agree with what you are saying and the fact of the matter is all it really does take is one person to just be there for the person experiencing the trauma and to the people that are dealing the bullying chances are you and your life is more screwed up then theirs.

Here's an observation: I played Gears of War 2 today (4x XP FTW!) and didn't come across one name-calling jerk. Everyone I played with was cooperative and civil. Now I know some of the people on MW2 get a bad rap for complete incivility, but I bet if you played the game a year from now it would be much better. Hell, it's already better than it was a year ago. My point being is that these bully types tend to migrate to the largest social groupings (ie. the most current and best-selling game at the time). That's just something I noticed, take of it what you will.

Might sound like a dick saying this, but shouldn't people who are old enough to play these games also be old enough to be able to brush these things off ? We're talking mostly M rated games. He's talking about experiences from early teens, but at that age should you even be exposed to this ?

If anyone wants to see a video about what is wrong with the online gaming community, as well as parenting, today, click on the link below and watch this little girl's curse laden tirade. It will certifiably blow your mind. EXPLICIT LANGUAGE is used so watch at your own risk.

Bullying is pathetic. The need to feel empowered by making others suffer is just wrong.

I am just sick and tired of hearing the stories of bullying on the net and for kids in school. I don't want to point blame but I would like to offer some solutions.

To anyone out there being picked on by somebody please tell someone you trust what is going on and then immediately tell someone who can make moves to stop it. You as a citizen or guest of the United States have a right not to be harrassed for any reason. It's called equal protection of law and it is one of our many inalienable rights touted in the in our founding documents.

As a person who was picked on and bullied before the age of the internet, I understand people can say and do many things that would make you want to crawl in a hole and/or do something horrible to yourself just to stop the pain. They are trying to take away your chance to have a truimph; don't let them!!!

If you have high school bullies, they will mean nothing past high school. They will fade away as unpleasant memories. When you do see them again, you will realize all at once that they never had any power over you. Just hold on and keep moving and please don't give up.

I too will pledge my support for anyone who is being bullied. If you are being bullied, I have no problem offering a hand of friendship to a person truly in need.

I would give out my gamertags for PS3 and 360 but people might start harrassing me. That's okay though because I keep real Call of Duty style weapons in my house to protect my children and I live on a military base so knock on my door if you will or can.

Closing note: I was an English nerd when I was in school and was constantly picked on. I got into a lot of fights with people because of the things they felt they had to say and do just to further twist the painful thumb screws of adolescence. I wanted to die at some points and even tried at others, but I made it through.

I now a combat veteran of the Army; I have a Bachelor's Degree in English with a minor in Political Science from SUNY Cortland; I have a beautiful wife and two children; I work from home as a ghostwriter/proofreader for a living; and most of the same creeps that did and said all those horrible things to me in high school are sitting in the same miserable spot I left them when I left town after high school. Keep your chin up and keep moving. Better things lay on life's horizon beyond any one moron.

I'm sorry my comment has little to do with gaming, but please give me a break. I have two children that will very likely deal with some kind of bullying or harrassment. I want them to know that their father had their back. I want all people being bullied to know that even though you think you are alone somebody cares about you.

Even if you think no one does. I care...and I don't even know you. If that's your only light in the darkness, reach for it. But please don't hurt yourself.

    Apologies for length :)
