This is the part of the reason why I stopped playing consoles. Whether it's directed at you or not, it really gets old after hearing it for years and years. It cuts into the fun factor tremendously.

I said it once and I'll say it again. When you hear this crap on XBL, don't argue with them. That's what they want. They're looking for attention. Just immiatly mute them. They're saying these thing because they are sitting in a room by themselves and they can get away with it.

Make them talk to themselves and mute them.

While I agree that the anonymity of the internet permits people to say things they wouldn't otherwise say, I would add that this tendency could be exploited to great ends. Because people say and do things under the cover of this anonymity that they would never do in real life or face to face, they are far more likely to expose their true feelings. To share things that they would otherwise repress but that nonetheless would be expressed in other ways(e.g. workplace discrimination). This anonymity-emboldened free speech presents a great opportunity for educating and shaping the thoughts of these sorely misguided individuals by dint of public response. People need to start clamping down on those online hooligans and letting them know that their behavior and way of thinking IS NOT RIGHT. That normal and good people do not think or act like that.

Stand up, as Adam urges, to these misguided individuals. Do not passively condone their behavior any longer. This is a great opportunity for the good majority to influence and hopefully profoundly change this misguided minority. They are exposing their deep seated views publicly and by so doing present a never before seen opportunity for change.

Seize the opprotunity these anonymous jerks offer to let them know that their misguided ideas are not held by others and maybe, just maybe a few of them will get the message and change.

Grow a spine or wither and die. Some people are just weak and lack the will to survive, not everyone is special or equal these are convoluted ideas perpetuated by a dysfunctional delusional society.

I get people saying the ten year olds are the annoying ones, but the older ones act worst. When i was young playing i use to get curse out by "18-27" year olds and they said the N word alot because im black. Also with the bulling i got from my school i was severely depressive saying im a loser, you will never get a GF, your gay, your a N, you will never achieve anything in your life. Five years later i still feel kinda feel like that, but I thrive on it a prove them wrong, but I still got the scar there.

agreed, i just gratuated high school this year, and now i am going to a university, and those who would talk "trash" to me to my face and on my face book, are now jobless and/or dropouts in colledge. trust me if you are one who is constantly picked on, when high school is over, they amount to nothing and you never have to see them again.

    Thanks Adam,
As a person who was bullied and did some back, i feel like i can talk about it now. I live in Ohio, in the town that in the last two year, four young people have ended their lives to soon. I am glad that you are at least bringing this up on our side. The gaming and internet generation needs to become more responsible. Words hurt. Stick and stone can kill.

Be careful what you teach your children and your younger family members. Don't be a dick online. When ya kill, tell yourself you did a great job and if you can help but call the other guy a name, Don't wear your headset. Easy as that.

Thanks again Adam. I am thankful that you are a face of our culture

Adam you're asking people to be humble? The cool kids wouldn't be cool unless they act as they do. We all know that in time they either grow up or never get invited to do anything when everyone else wises up. The flaw in your request is who you are targeting. Try asking those who placate the cool kids. A cool kid needs an audience to exist, so the audience needs to ignore the cool kid. Don't give the cool kid any reason to continue.

Bulling is bulling. As someone who has suffored physical, as well as verbal, abuse, it does not get easy to overcome it. But, with enough time and a positive outlook on life, nothing can get you down. Shoot, I work at GameStop now for over 2 years and I have more Sonic games now than I ever could imagine. I have made plenty of friends (real as well as through social networks) since my high school days. I'm at the top of my form, and in the back of my mind, I know that bad karma will happen to those who have scorned me in the past. This was indeed a heavy topic, especially since it was almost close to my own life. I am glad though that I am able to discuss this.

I guess to put it simply then: I love humanity, it's the people I can't stand, right?

I agree with Adam here 100%. It sad to see how wide spread and out of control this bullying thing has gotten.. I think the anonymity of the net has allowed this to explode more than it has in the past. I am all for the banning of the foul mouth people on live/psn, or sending them to the military/military school would be good for them.... These individuals make the online aspect of games unsavory... I mean to come home from a long day of work and want to hop online and play a few games to help unwind only to have to put up with all these slurs and unruly behavior is just saddening. I think these individuals as small a group they are really hurt the online component of games.
