Well said Mr. Sessler! Nerds and all other harassed people are human beings. Just look at what the richest nerd, Bill Gates, did.
for some reason I wasted 5 minutes of my time replaying the beginning when adam says "stop being a dick" lol Xd
I'm glad that someone in a position to be seen said this. Thank you, Adam!I'm an adult, and I like Halo: Reach, but as of last night, I give up on it. The attitudes of people playing are worse then bad, and they are making online gaming a rotten experience. The only reason I'll ever play the game again is to finish my Legendary play thru, and I'll likely not play any more public games. It's simply not fun.
A Sessler's Soapbox where I agree 100%....i'm happily surprised haha
Speaking of being a dick, whoever was playing Halo on the left behind Sessler got teabagged at 4:58.
People are a-holes, and I have to completely agree with Sessler on this, it doesn't matter if your playing a game on line or sitting at lunch at school, if someone is being bullied, stand up and tell the bully to back off, the great part about the internet and online gaming, you can block people, you can report people, and you can get their accounts banned. If you are a person who gets bullied everyday, I understand its easier said than done, try to stay strong, try to ignore it, be who you are and dont let any body change who and what you believe in, and let someone know about it. Never forget, we are nothing more than human, we are all different in many different ways, but all tho we are all different it doesn't mean we cant treat each other with respect.
At one time, bullying used to be something that happened mainly in elementary school and the teacher usually fixed the problem. However it's not like that anymore. It's instead gone to high school, college, and the internet. Some people may say that bullying is part of everyday culture and while it may be true it doesn't mean it's right or that people can't work together to make a difference about it. The internet, especially YouTube and the social networks, is a breeding ground for bullies. This is because they are behind a keyboard rather than face to face with someone. Some people may say to people who are getting bullied to just deal with it, or that it's not a big deal, but however it's not that simple anymore. People harm themselves after going through bullying. It's 2010 and yet we still have racist and homophobic people who think it's ok to bully people because they're different. People are different. Respect for one another can and will go a long way. Same goes for online gaming. Unless I'm playing with friends, I don't use a mic when I play because I don't want to hear the foul language and stuff coming out of people's mouths just because they have a live mic. Just because they have the right to say what they want doesn't mean the have the right to treat other people like dirt. Gaming has come a long way to get to where it is now and there's great people working in the industry that helped build it into what we have now and if we want to show what great people and smart people that are within gaming, then the bullying has to stop. Also my condolences go out to anyone or any family affected by bullying and/or bullying tragedies. I remember back when I was a freshman in high school 7 years ago that I was bullied quite a bit just for no reason but I just dealt with it and soon the bullies went away and did whatever they did after but many people don't have it that easy, and schools and higher-ups need to help end the bullying. If bullying has more of a zero tolerance in schools as it does in certain schools already, then there will be less school violence-related tragedies and it'll be better for everyone.
Survival of the fittest!!!!!Banning anyone from Xbox live is a joke, just dont play with them vote kick them if you can (funny to see l4D 2 on the screen). Its funny cause before all this went down I mentioned to somebody that there was a underground online movement called "god hates queers" which was brewing up.THINGS WERE NEVER LIKE THIS AT CAMP ANAWANNA!!!!
While Sess may be right, some people are just a--holes. That's why I don't bother with online multiplayer. After a few hours of being insulted during Red Dead Redemption, sometimes by my own teammates, I went back to singleplayer. And for those of you saying victims of bullies need to "grow a pair," you first.
its so stupid online , the people who do bully, it just makes them look bad, and retarded, since most of them wouldnt have the balls to say it to your face but most of this goes on in the call of duty community, i dont even play mw2 anymore because i dont want to deal with people like that, and the fact that mw2 is fail, the number of times i have got in to fights at school defending friends, well i lost count
While the internet s obviously full of /b/tards and trolls, I find them easy to ignore. FB bullying and stalking is more serious. However I don't really tend to hear that much of what I'd call 'bullying' when I play games. Usually it's just loudmouth 12 year olds or drunken frat boys, so i tend to just politely tell them they're being muted. Griefers and cheaters are easy to ban.I like what Bungie's doing with the psych profiles system where you choose your preference for polite/rowdy or quiet/loud. Obviously it's not prefect because trolls will just choose the wrong settings, but it's a good step forward.
I liked your talk Adam, but there is a difference between talking crap to the other team and being an a-hole.
the fact that he's wearing a pryor shirt just make's it that much better
bullying wasnt my problem, the love of my life wanted nothing to do with me.anyway, pick on trolls (like me) if you feel you need to bully someone, we LOL@ it.
Inspiring. The idea that you can stick up for someone that needs it and it changes their life is fantastic. Sadly, the nerdy kid I stuck up for in high school committed suicide in college.
